anyone good at updos?

I am going to a wedding on the 30th and really want to put my hair up for it. However, I am AWFUL at doing my hair myself, and don't want to pay for an updo. Does anyone have any tips or instructions for a simple, elegant updo that I could master with practice over the next couple of weeks? I was thinking of french twist or some kind of chignon. I am just so uncoordinated that I find it hard to put my hair up and manage sticking in bobby pins all at the same time! Chat Icon

jackie- you have Awesome curls. What about blowing the front straight so that you can slick it down (and do a side part) for a sleek, Side Swept look, then put it in a low ponytail, and pull the curls up, and bobby pin them sporatically to give a low, curly chignon look?
(sorry i'm not better with descriptive words Chat Icon )

Can you pull it all into a ponytail, high, medium or low? It may help to blow the front out so it is smoother. Don't use a scrunchie Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon . Then curl the tail. Then take each individual curl and pin it haphazardly to the rubberband area. Really be random in your pinning.

what about a pony tail, but leave a piece out and after you put up the tail, use the piece to sweap (if you like a part) and then use the piece to wrap around and hid the rubberband? Then make spiral curls in the tail or leave slicked straight?

I'm not really good at doing updo's either. But if you go to Duane Reade or CVS, they have sort of a clip(for lack of better word to explain it...in a fog this morning) that you can try to make different updo's and hairdo's. I recalled seeing it and I don't think it was more than $10.00
