Re: OH DEAR LORD, I BET YOU'VE NEVER RECEIVED AN RSVP LIKE THIS
It took me a full 15 seconds to close my jaw after reading this one!
I would just hand the list over to the BM and tell him to deal with it, and don't you give it another thought. What PIA's!!

Re: OH DEAR LORD, I BET YOU'VE NEVER RECEIVED AN RSVP LIKE THIS
personally i dont think it is rude for them to include a list - give it to the banquet manager that is what they get paid for the hall should talk to them about what they can eat. dh and i have alot of food allergies and often have to ask places about what is in food. i think you would rather have them tell you than one of them have an allergic reaction to something and have to go to the hospital right? places make special meals all the time - we had quite a few at our wedding that had special menus they adapt - dont get bugged out about it.

See, the issue for me is that they should have either spoken to me about it or contacted the banquet manager. They've done both things. I don't think it's fair that both me (who is planning a SURPRISE party) and the BM have to place these 2 on high priority. Someone should, yes, but not ALL people involved with the party. And, then to tack on a note asking me to send them gift ideas. They didn't even give me a price range to work with. I don't even know how to respond. The thing he wants MOST is cash- I know that for sure. I'm afraid of naming something that's either too difficult to get, or too costly.

Re: OH DEAR LORD, I BET YOU'VE NEVER RECEIVED AN RSVP LIKE THIS
I think as the host of the party (YOU) it is your obligation to make sure all your guests are comfortable. They should have told you and you should have gone to the BM, not them. You should just call them and ask them point blank" What CAN you eat, I will have it prepared for you." Much easier than what they can't eat...
And while on the phone, tell them an Amex Gift Check would be perfect... you can use it anywhere, and it isn't as tacky as saying CASH.
