Help- Reasonable amount?

ok- here is the situation

we need to be out of our apartment by 10/1- it's being sold and we hate it

I found a 3 bedroom/2 bath right by where we live now

they don't have it advertised- I saw a sign in the window

I just called- she wants $2K - and 1 months sercurity- but said if I like it- we can talk about the price

I don't need 3 bedrooms- but it would be nice and I would still have to keep one of my rented parking spots for DH car

mine can go on the street during the week since I wont be driving it- and there is only parking at this apartment after 4:30pm and on weekends (so if I run errands on weekends- I can park in the driveway) they run a business out of the unit below

it's been empty for a while now- over a month since I saw the sign

I just love the location- close to the express bus and the stores- I really don't care what it looks like

would it be unreasonable to offer her $1600?

Offer it and see what they come back with. I think that 1700 would still be a great price for a 3 bedroom that is in a good location.

Re: Help- Reasonable amount?

where is it located? 2,000 sounds really good for a 3 bedroom in my area.

that's what I am thinking

she can say no and say $1800

they aren't trying to hard to rent it- so this solves a problem for both of us

b/c I hate looking

Try and if she says no at least you tried. $2,000 is still good so if she says no you are still getting a great deal.

Re: Help- Reasonable amount?

Does it include utilities??

If it includes utililies than I think $2000 is fair. If not, $1600 is fair.

I pay $1600 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath not including utilities. And I think that's pretty good.

I don't think so- but I will ask

it's not a bad price for area- and compared to what I pay now

I pay $1850 plus cable and phone (electric included)

but it's not a fancy, door man building- which is fine and what I want- I just was hoping to be able to save extra money

and the parking situation is not ideal- luckily we rent spots over there- b/c we would still need to keep one- so I can see why they would have a harder time renting it- it just works out for us that I ready made a deal with building that we park at now so this works for me- when it might not work for someone else

and they told me they are willing to neg. - so I want to be prepared

I wont take it for $2K

I still have time to look- I was just hoping to get lucky (I thought she was going to say alot more to be honest)

we have no reason to pay that much - we only need 1 bedroom- I wanted 2 b/c of my business- and 3 would just be a bonus

I do like the 2 bathrooms-Chat Icon

Re: Help- Reasonable amount?

I would make the offer - even if it is too low for the Landlord's taste there is still the chance she will counter offer with something you'd consider.
