Now that I had one...I am starting to get the "so when's the next one" question! People always have SOMETHING to say
My answer...umm health reasons. You can always use that one, people don't seem to ask further questions after that.
ETA- Yes a baby changes things but I saw words like "ruin" on t his thread...if you feel that a baby will ruin things, why even consider having one?
the real eta- ooops hit quote instead of edit, my apologies.
i didn't see anyone that said ruin (though i didn't scour through all 3 pages of posts!) but i don't see how anyone could disagree that a child complicates married life by adding in so much more responsibility. for now we are enjoying being a bit more selfish...going to the gym after work without having to worry about not picking up a baby from daycare, or meeting each other out for drinks without having to worry about bringing a baby or finding a sitter. there will be a point when we are willing to give those things up for the obvious joy of having a baby, but for now we're enjoying our family of two.
I didnt see the word "ruin" either, but i did see "complicate" which is prob. a correct word, lol.
It's just one those things where you know you're ready. And its a situation where you live in the fear of the unknown before having a child (will our relationship change, can we financially handle this, will we be good parents etc..) and then when you have your baby, its just a new chapter...and hard to believe this creature didn't exist before, lol.
In some peoples defense of asking the "when are you having a baby" question, i have to admit...I've been guilty. I feel bad admitting it now.
I have never asked it with any ill intent or being nosy. I've asked it in a joking manner to friends who are married, and I've witnessed others to it to people as well. We had friends and family ask too, but it never really bothered me, well, because we knew we wanted kids and knew people just ask because they've been there, and are excited for us and what it to come. If that makes ANY sense, lol...sorry i am rambling!
I am going to be more mindful of it from now on....I think everyone should TTC when they are 100% ready!
