long term disability?
is anyone familiar with this? i pay into my long term disability and have been with my company for 15 years but when exactly would it kick in? if you're disabled for longer than the usual 6 week period? how does FMLA work with this. Our HR dept. although we are a large enough company consists of 1 person and 1 assistant neither of which is all too helpful ESPECIALLY when you're asking these type of questions.

Re: long term disability?
LTD does not kick in until you are disabled for 26 weeks, so no it will not supplement beyond the 6 or 8 weeks that you will receive for delivery.
The FMLA is entirely separate from DBL and just holds your position for 12 weeks

Re: long term disability?
You need to get a copy of your LTD policy, as they are all different. They have different definitions of disability, different waiting periods for benefits to start, etc. Even policies from the same company differ depending on the contract.
