If you were my SIL, would you get mad?

SIL got engaged in early April and has been trying to lock in a date for her eparty. She originally said June, its now July and still no eparty. Well, DH's 30th birthday is next month and i wanted to throw a little party for him at my parents...catered with just family and close friends. I dont want her to feel like i'm trying to steal her eparty thunder. Would you get mad at me if you were her? Would you feel like I was trying to steal your thunder? DH only turns 30 once and I've made every one of his "momentous" birthdays special (21st and 25th) so I dont want him to think i dont care about the big 3-0, kwim. but at the same time, i dont want to anger the bride to be.

No, I wouldn't be mad. I would call her and ask if she chose a date yet because you are planning your DH 30th and wanted to check with her first so there are no conflicts.

Why in the world should you feel bad about celebrating Dh's 30th? I'm sure she won't be mad, I mean, come on, it's his birthday.

No way would I be mad. There is no e-date set, so, plan your DHs party

why would she be mad? it's not like you're planning an e-party, it's a b-day party. no connection whatsoever

I don't think she'll be mad...she hasn't locked in a date yet and your DH's birthday is when it is...it's not like he chose to be born that month!
I'm sure she'll understand...don't worry!

Just have a talk with her FH, and have him order her to not be angry!

ohhhh and to answer the question for real... EVERYONE has a party in the summer... we have invites for people's parties that we've never even met. She needs to get a jump on, anyway, ifshe wants anyone to be able to come- and she cant expect you to put things on hold, either.

If she was planning on having a June e-party and seeing as how it's almost the midle of July you can totally have his birthday party. She's had long enough to plan and it's not like DH's birthday changes every year or that you can change the date of his birth If she says anything just remind her that his birthday is the same every year and even though she's engaged his birthday is still ********* and he is entitled to an awsome 30th birthday party If she says any thing else just tell her there is nothing to talk about you are having a birthday party for your husband, her brother end of subject GOOD LUCK

I wouldn't get mad, but things like that don't bother me. Talk it over with her first if you are concerned though.

She hasn't set a date you can't wait around forever.....30 is a big b-day!

No, I wouldn't get mad. Maybe just run the date by her first to make sure, but she shoudn't get mad over that.

No, I wouldn't be. I just went through this with throwing my mom a surprise 65th a few weeks before my cousins wedding. It was fine. Everyone had a blast at both occassions and a birthday can never take the thunder away from a bride

I agree with all the other ladies, there is no reason for her to get mad. Like someone else suggested I would call her and just run the date by her and go about your planning. Have fun!

and no way would I even bother calling her- why should I plan my DH's birthday around her??????? It is what it is.
this is a big 3-0 and hers is an engagement party, very different and different people attending too Im sure.

I wouldn't be mad. But to be on the safe side it certainly wouldn't hurt to give her a call and see where she stands with the eparty plans. And explain you want to throw your DH a bday shindig and don't want her to feel like you are stepping on her toes.
