The list WILL vary from one dr. to another. So the forbidden list is very subjective.
My dr. told me cold cuts were fine. As long as I get them from a very reputable place, that they are fresh and the "best" brands.
I was told no soft cheese unpasteurized, no alcohol, no big fish (tuna, etc..) and no raw fish. I "obeyed" to the rules I just mentioned.

I drank soda, iced tea and juice the entire pregnancy.
I ate feta cheese on my gyros.
I ate cold cuts and hot dogs.
I ate my eggs over easy.
I used sweet and low.
You name it, I did it.

of course I ate all that.
I still drank 1 cup of coffee, ate cold cuts like 3-4 days a week, ate hot dogs, sausage, but I dont like Tuna.
You can eat all that just in moderation.

whether or not you eat cold cuts (or any "forbidden" food, for that matter) depends on how risk averse you are.
you are told to cut out cold cuts because there is a risk of contracting listeria, a bacteria that can be harmful to your baby.
i have been eating cold cuts for my entire life - and not once have i gotten sick from them, let alone with listeria. the risk of getting sick from these foods is very small, and the risk of the offending bacteria being listeria is even smaller. i just don't feel that the risk is worth my obsessing over my food choices... so i just eat what i want, when i want. but everyone is different...

Oh please. I pretty much only ate the foods on the "forbidden" list. My kid is fine.
And whoever started that chocolate and candy rumor is just plain MEAN
