Do you think fireworks should be illegal?

I just think it is slight overkill that they are illegal and that breaking news is when they find a home with a garage full of fireworks.

Re: Spinoff to Fireworks: Should they be illegal?

By the way some of my neighbors have "handled" them, I would say yes.

They would fall on people's roof, street or grass. The last thing I need to worry about is my house getting on fire because someone wants to have a "good time" at 2am.

They can be extremely dangerous. I don't think that it should be illlegal per se, but more like you have to have some sort of license or permit to carry and use them.

Yes, they are really dangerous if not handled properly. My brother has a good friend who has wanted to be a cop his whole life. He took the Suffolk PD test a few years back and scored really high. Got called to go through the Academy, was really excited, celebrated with his family that night, lost an eye when a firework he had just lit and was holding exploded early right in his face. Now he'll never be a cop.

I think you should be able to get a license to use them. requiring that you take a class and pass a test. So this way people know the proper way to handle them.

yes I do. there is a reason why they are illegal, they're explosives and should be handled by professionals.

I agree. You should have to know how to properly set them off and where they can be properly set off.

it's kind of silly that they are illegal- you can buy them in PA, Ohio and almost every other state I have ever driven thru

I agree with this as well. But it should also depend on the "level" of fireworks. Something like sparklers or those poppy ones people set off in the street are fun and not really dangerous.

agreed! a few years ago, one of the neighbors on IL's block got his hands on some fireworks and set them off in the field in the front of IL's house. he didnt know what he was doing and instead of it going up in the air, it went left and into someones car door and hit the driver!!!

sooooooo scary! if you dont know what you are doing you should NOT be allowed to handle them!!!
