Re: newbie
Welcome & good luck!
I chart & use the fertility monitor - makes me feel sure of the results.

Re: newbie
I just started temping this cycle. I'm towards the end of the cycle. I'm still totally confused as to when I ovulated. If we don't get blessed with Baby Dust this cycle...I'm buying the monitor first day of AF. Hopefully I won't need it!! The monitor will hopefully help me figure out when I ovulate. The temping shows me about 4-5 different possibilities. Too confusing!!!

Welcome! May your stay here be very short!
To answer your question, charting and the fertility monitor actually measure 2 different things. Charting will provide you with evidence after the fact that you have ovulated; the fertility monitor (and OPKs) will measure the LH in your system to tell you that you should be ovulating within the next 12-36 hours.
Neither method is indicative of definite ovulation (only a sonogram at the moment of ovulation would provide you with that information). If you're considering either, I would personally recommend doing both. You will get a surge and the temps will confirm ovulation; this combination is the closest you will get to confirmed ovulation.
