I would have said, "Nice try, jackass, get in the back." But that's just me.

Re: Is it me?
That's weird that he did that. Obviously he hasn't grown up yet.

Re: Is it me?
Wow. He's definitley stuck in high school. What did your DH say? I would have laughed it off and got right in the front.

I would have said..."there is no shotgun in our car...I always sit up front with my husband."
ditto! isnt that just common sense???? sounds like your friend needs to grow up a little!

Re: Is it me?
I actually always let my husbands friends sit in the front. His friends are all tall and would be very uncomfortable in the back seat. I see nothing wrong with this. Though his friends never say shotgun and they always give me a choice to sit up front.

did dh say anything
Not to the friend.
My DH is the kind of person where you have to basically be stabbing him in the heart to get a reaction out of him. He is also the I want to be everyones friend and constantly be in a party atmosphere. So, as I was getting in the back seat behind DH and gave DH a roll of my eyes, he said to me "come on, it's his birthday." So I let it slide, but it really bothered me that this guy was so immature. And to tell you the truth, it bothered me that DH didn't say anything, but I am not surprised, hence the reason I didn't say anything to him.

DH and I went to the city for his friends Bday last night. We all met at a bar for drinks. After drinks, we walked to DHs truck to drive to the restaurant. When we were close to the car, the friend says 'shotgun'. I didn't say anything to him. But seriously, you turned 30, not 13, I'm his wife, you're a friend, sit in the back with your friend that you invited.
Should I just have been nice and not cared? Or is his friend still stuck in high school?
I would have said, "Nice try. You're sitting in the back." OUR car - WE sit in the front unless I offer it to you. PERIOD.
How juvenile!
