How RUDE!!!

First off, I hate when people call back a number they don't recognize just to see who it was. If there was no message left then get over it. Maybe it was just a wrong number.

Anyway, I called a person yesterday for work after he left a vague message on my office phone with is office number. He called me back on my office cell phone (I left that number since I worked from home) and he was calling from his cell phone. I did not take down his cell phone number. We spoke at length about the issue at almost 5 p.m.

Well, my office cell phone just rang and, thinking it's an emergency, I answered it. It was this same guy calling me from his cell phone. He went into this long explanation about calling back missed calls in his cell phone and I finally asked - "who are you" Once he told me his name I reminded him about our issue and that we had already spoken so there was no need to call again. By the way I never called your cell phone - you called ME from your cell phone yesterday & that is why my number is there.

Anyway, he asked if I also work on Saturdays and I said "Absolutely NOT. But when my office cell phone rings on a Saturday I assume it's urgent." This was NOT but he kept talking and asked if our issue was resolved from yesterday. I reminded him that it's a $200K issue so NO it's not resolved since we just spoke about it at 5 p.m. on Friday and it's SATURDAY!!!

And get this - he KEEPS talking and asking me questions unrelated to my position. He is a land owner and has some sites in Manhattan. I gave him the name and number of the person he needs to speak with and he STILL kept talking and giving me all the details of two sites. Then he goes on and on asking me about our company model since the sites he is shopping are 4,000 - 5,000. I remind him again that I do not handle site selection but I do have a hand in leasing sites we already own. Then he goes into detail about putting some of his clients into my locations that are up for lease.

Finally I just said I do not mean to be short with you but it's SATURDAY and I have plans with my husband and stepson. We can speak about this during the work week.

I am so passing this guy off to someone else to deal with. And this was my lesson for the day - if the number does not show up as my boss or someone I know then I am not answering my work phone on weekends. I am just not paid enough to work 6 days a week
