Opinions please....
DH came home last night and said that he is going to play poker with the guys on the 20th. Now, normally I would have no problem with that, but I am due on the 29th. I'm already concerned about getting to the hospital because we live in NYC up in the 180's the hospital is on 10th and 58th and we don't have a car. I am being a really naggy wife if I ask him not to go? Or if I suggest that instead of having the game downtown having it here at our place? I just feel like it is a little too close to my due date for him to be out playing poker and drinking with the guys.

I am not sure that having it at your place is the best idea...I feel like the mess & aggravation is the last thing you need. He can play poker closer IMO.

I'm nervous about DH being out now and I'm still a month away.
I would see if he can have it at your place or at least closer to you!

Re: Opinions please....
I think having it at your place is a good compromise, as long as you agree on cleanup arrangments beforehand.

Re: Opinions please....
Thanks ladies! I think that I will suggest having it here provided that he helps with the clean up. If he doesn't like that then he can just wait until after his son is born to play poker.

I would let him go BUT this is what I would tell him.
- it is possible he would need to cancel the game if you are not feeling good - would he consider doing it closer so you feel more comfortable with it?
I would let him play if you feel fine.

Re: Opinions please....
DH is NOT allowed to play his basketball the final 2 weeks of my pregnancy as he is unreachable. He will basically be "grounded." I even got the dr. to say he should stay close to home and easily reachable.
I don't know about your DH, but when mine attends poker night, there's drinking as well. Ask him if he'd want to show up at the hospital witha buzz going?

The thing is that it would either have to be at 9th street or at our place. Everyone else he plays with lives outside the city.

Then have it at your place so you have peace of mind.

That is another concern of mine!!! I mean poker and drinking go hand and hand!! Why can't men use their common sense and know that when it is that close to time they should be home with us? I mean when I think about it, he has had 9 months of playing with his friends. Now, its time to get serious.

I am the odd man out here -I would let him go, tell him he can have a beer or 2 that is it!! It may be his last game for a while
You also offering him to have the guys at your place is a great idea too.
Keep us posted on what he decides to do.

I am sending DH to AC for a "last trip" before baby comes in a couple of months.
DH does not gamble and drink though.

Re: Opinions please....
I think you're completely right for asking him to have it at your place, or not at all. My husband was telling me about a concert he wants to go see about a week before my due date - I told him no way. Then there was a cayaking tournament about a week after....no way on that either. The birth of a child is TOO big a deal, in my opinion.
