Painting Dilemma...please help!
We are having a painting dilemma. We are buying a center hall colonial (stairs in center when you walk in; dining room to left and living room to right).
We had the dining room painted red and the living room painted yellow. The hallway was painted red, too (it looks AWFUL) so now, as DH calls it, it looks like "McDonald's" with the red and yellow directly next to each other. We are definitely repainting the yellow room.
Here's the dilemma - DH wants to paint the living room red, too for continuity, since it's an open floor plan. I am worried that it will be too dark. You can see the den and kitchen (camel colored) from the entrance, so that has to blend in with the LR/DR.
Painting it a separate color may be too many different colors. Does anyone think a red LR and DR will be too dark? Thanks!!!!!!

I do. I think that's too much red. how about a soft beige or something a little more neutral in the foyer? I would leave the living room yellow.
ETA: If you look at my photo album, our LR is gold, our DR is sage green, and we painted our foyer a softer gold color. I dont think its too many different colors. if you do a very pale yellow that blends with the LR it may not look to ronald mcdonald.

Thank you...are your LR and DR close together? I thought about paining the hallway a soft beige too, because the red in that area now is so extreme...thanks for your advice

My living room and dining room are across from each other. We are going with Saint Martin Sand, a light color. Also, if the room is small darker colors make the room even smaller. Sounds like you picked good colors though, I like the soft beige
