Also, on the reverse, I have a friend whose kids call me "aunt" and I am not comfortable with it. Those kids are not my niece or nephew! In fact, my niece and nephew just call me by my name, which is fine w/ me.

i am going to have the baby call my closest friend Aunt, when her nephew was born, she refered to me as an aunt, and i am close enough to her where i feel comfortable with our child calling her that, however, other then DH and I's brothers and sisters, i will not be introducing any other friends as aunt or uncle, but thats a personal decison you have to make.

We had family friends we called Aunt and Uncle, but if and when I have children, I don't see them calling anyone aunt or uncle but our siblings and their spouses.

It actually bothers me more that she is telling you that your child will love her more than you and your DH? What the heck is that all about???

As children we always called our parents friends "aunt & Uncle". My daughter only called her god father (not a relative) "uncle" everyone else was just by their first name.
I like to keep the titles special for the family members.
