I think she should go for a second and third opinion asap. I lost my Mom almost 5 years ago to breast cancer and have always thought that if he doctor had been more diligent, she may still be alive. I'll keep your mom in my prayers.

I absolutely think you Mom should get a second opinion! My Mom also had an abnormal mammo a few years ago, with small lumps showing up on the film and they immediately did a biopsy. It turned out to be completely benign (thank G-d), but the point is, nobody told her to go home and wait and see "if the lumps will grow". I am by no mean an expert in this, but I think it is ridiculous and very dangerous!
Please, make sure she gets a second opinion! I will keep your mom in my thoughts! It is always better to be overly cautious with these things, you know!

My mother had a mammogram done the other day and they called her today saying that they didnt like the results and she has to go back tomorrow for another one. When she told me this I said everything was going to be fine. But when I went to bed tonight I started hysterical crying because I just kept thinking the worst. I know my hormones are crazy right now but I can not stop crying that is why I am up right now. My DH heard me crying and said everything is going to be fine and just fell back asleep. I am just so scared!!!

So my mother went today to get the second mammogram and the doctor said he did find lumps but they were small. He then said come back in 6 months and we will see if they grow at all.... I thought that was a little strange dont you think if you see lumps that it would be best to test them.... HELP do you think she should get another opinion??
ah..so they wanted a comparision mammo.
I still would go somewhere else too,..
but it def sounds promising now.
Just one more opinion.

I would ALWYS recommend a second opinion. If you want you can FM me & I will give you the name of my mothers breast surgeon & oncologists. IMO it is better to know early than wait.

I had a similar situation with a very dear friend who was misdiagnosed with Pneumonia for 4 months when it was really lung cancer. It really is better to know early, as the success rate of treatment is way greater.

My mIL always gets abnormal mammos and they usually find lumps. THey do a biopsy right away though. Tell your mom to go somewhere else. I would not risk 6 months.
