oil

Who does everyone use for oil? I need to start calling to get prices and don't know where to start. We're closing on our house Monday afternoon!

Re: oil

I just went throught the phone book, he who had the cheapest lockin with a service contract won. Last year it was Slomin's and this year it's Lewis.
Don't worry too much, it's not urgent. You will have oil in the tank so don't panic.

Re: oil

I use Southville Petroleum in Centerport. They don't give you locked in rate but if you spend the $200 for the annual contract, you get a super discounted rate. I just got a delivery a few weeks ago and the rate was $2.04.

Re: oil

We signed up with Slomins recently. Locked in at $2.39/gallon and $99 service for the year but if you pay your bill within the first 10 days you can take 10% of the total so we really only end up paying $2.35/gallon.

not always....we had almost nothing left in the tank when we moved into our house. We had to call for oil a few days after closing....

Same here. Our tank was just about on empty.

Re: oil

We locked with Perillo. We pay $2.47 and the contract is included.

make sure whatever contract you get includes tank replacement. Some don't.

Re: oil

We use General...and we didn't lock in a rate which wound up working in our favor since our last delivery was $.40 cheaper per gallon than it was in the summer.

Re: oil

We do C.O.D. and have a separate service contract.

We figured out that if we had an all inclusive contract last year, at the going rate, we would have spent $800 more for oil and service. As we have a boiler that is 11 months old (we replaced it), this was the way to go for us.
