Shaving..

How often do you shave. The bigger I get, the harder it is.

Re: Shaving..

I used to do it everyday but now just once a week. The weird thing is I don't need to shave as often because the hair isn't really growing that fast. Weird.

Re: Shaving..

This may be a stupid question, but I know in the past I heard the nurses would shave the woman I guess to make for a cleaner delivery. Do they still do this, or I guess they really dont have to b/c most woman shave or get waxed these days?

Also, is it ok to get a brazilian wax while pregnant? I was nervous b/c a friend of mine got a herpes sore on her eye from getting her eyebrows waxed a few years ago while she was pregnant with her son. If you think about it, they use the same wax on everyone to do eyebrows, lips, bikini etc. and they are sticking the same stick in and out of the wax. Her dr. told her the hot wax breeds stuff like herpes and what not.

I have never heard or read of waxing being dangerous. It's actually considered one of the "safe" hair removal methods during pregnancy. I'm sure you'll be fine. If it concerns you, I would just continue to shave (and yes, it does become more difficult as you get further along in pregnancy) for now. As far as the herpes sore, it's a virus that to my knowledge passes through your bloodstream or direct contact with a sore. Pregnancy can bring on cold sores in many women (usually on the mouth), which are a type of herpes simplex virus (just not the genital kind obviously), but the virus is usually already in your system and remains dormant. So if your friend ever had a cold sore on her lip before, the virus was already present in her body. If you decide to wax, I would go to a reputable and sanitary salon to put your mind at ease.

I shaved everyday throughout my entire pregnancy. I can't stand stubble. Somehow I managed to groom Chat Icon the whole time too.

Re: Shaving..

do you....um....ok not sure how to ask this question.....do you HAVE to shave your "private area?" it is basically impossible at this point to do but I don't want the nurses and doctor to be horrified!!

Re: Shaving..

I had been doing my legs twice a week lately, but now I'm thinking I should bump it up again in case I go into labor on one of the stubblier days. Grooming the other "area" has really become a pain, but I'll have to find a way so as not to scare all of the nurses.

Re: Shaving..

OK, Im glad im not the only one who shaves once a week. Its really not that bad during the week and Im in a rush to get to work. At least on the weekends I can take my time..LOL
Around my due date, I'll prob. shave more often so the nurses and dr.s dont run away..Chat Icon

Re: Shaving..

Recently, I have only shaved my legs before a doc appointment. It really hasn't been that bad...
But, now I will be shaving more often incase of a hospital visit.
I remember a few years ago being hospitalized and my legs were so bad - that's all I could think about - I was horrified the whole time!!
