Moms who know the short cuts...

to looking good on the fly. Chat Icon Fashion & Beauty didn't help for some reason....

I love my MAC foundation but tired of going out of my way to buy it. Would rather get a cheaper foundation that works...one I can just pick up anytime at a CVS or something.

What's your liquid foundation?

Thanks!Chat Icon

Re: Moms who know the short cuts...

Honestly I am in LOVE with CG Advanced Radiance

External Image

My skin is DRY in the winter and I love the way this covers, it stays fresh all day too. It goes on a little heavy so use it sparingly, with a little pressed powder to set it!!!! It's awesome, and stands up very well to my $$$ brand, Clarins!!!

Ooh thanks Colette! My skin is very dry in the winter too, so this is perfect. What do you use to apply it - sponge, brush? TIA!

I just recently realized that it's not about foundation, it's about a good primer. I am in love with this thing: primer Even when you apply it alone, you face already looks better. Having it under your foundation makes your face look flawless...

I just have to second this stuff. I was a Sephora junkie when I was working because there was one right next door to my building so I'd go in every day after lunch. This is hands down some of the best money I ever spent in there.

I'm intrigued. What do you buy? The colorless or one of the others-just curious exactly which product you both have used. Thanks

I use the colorless one. I apply on a clean, moisturized but dry face and wait a minute or two before applying foundation. It truly is the most amazing beauty product I ever used.

Re: Moms who know the short cuts...

I hardly ever wear foundation, but when I do, I wear a spray foundation. I spray it on a sponge and apply to my face. It's so light and barely there, but really evens out your skin. For me, I have pretty good skin, just need a bit of evening, so it works well.

Which spray foundation do you use? I have been looking for one for a long time and can't find anything. And speaking of mommy shortcuts, how much easier to just spray! :)

Re: Moms who know the short cuts...

What is this post on Fashion & Beauty that you speak of?? You know I wasn't around if I didn't answer you! Anyway, as for drugstore foundations, I say go for Neutrogena Tinted Moisturizer. It's all I use in the summers and most of the time when I'm working I just slap it on half sleeping with a couple of poufs of powder, blush, nude eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and ironically, no lip. That bothers me about me. How do I got through all of that and leave it unfinished? Almost purposefully? Anyway, my fave tinted moisturizer is You Rebel Lite by benefit. I think it only comes in one shade and is a GIGANTIC tube. I used to use it with my Dior Nude compact until Chloe hurled it to the floor and it crumpled into pieces. Now I'm just using up my old stuff until the cupboard is bare and I have to start from scratch. I have too much stuff.

Thanks for giving me a place and a semblance of a reason to vent my makeup woes. Chat Icon

I have no idea what the name of it is, but I got it in CVS and it's the brand put out by the make-up artist on What Not to Wear, Carmandy, or something like that. It's in a little green can. Love it!

No WAY!!! CVS?? Chat Icon I keep seeing her use that little can on the show and think how I wish I knew where to get it!! I also love it that it's a small can, because I don't use foundation every day and a bottle usually lasts me weeeeell over a year, at which time it turns a different shade, probably from being too oldChat Icon Thank you so much! WHAT?! My idol Carmindy has a make up line?!? SHUT UP!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Seriously, I do talk like that all the time. Chat Icon I am too obsessed with that show. I have no idea how I missed this bit of info...maybe cuz I haven't been watching it since I returned to work!

Thanks ladies!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Spray foundation might work for me too...I loved having the powder based stuff from MAC, but I'm starting to feel it doesn't cover the way liquid does, and my skin can get splotchy.

Re: Moms who know the short cuts...

I don't use foundation or primer - I use the regenerist serum on my face, which makes it feel incredibly soft, and then I dust just a little powder and blush, put on a tiny bit of eyeshadow and mascara, and voila.

I also found it to be SO much easier to make myself look good in the morning by getting the mommy chop. It's SO much easier and I get SO many compliments on it. I have wavy hair, but I use the Phyto Shamptoo and Defrisant, so all I have to do is blowdry it, and within 5 minutes it's straight and full body. I don't even have to use a brush to straighten it...

I don't use foundation or primer, though that Smashbox one sounds good. For me, the key is a little light bronzer powder on the face-- I like the Physician's Formula mosaic one that is a combination of bronzes, golds, and pinks. It gives a nice healthy glow, is not shimmery or fake looking at all.

Also, mascara is the other staple for me. Right now I like Cover Girl Lash Blast, but Max Factor 2000 Calorie is my all time fave.
