We have a fake tree and to be honest I loathe decorating for the holidays. The only thing I like about our tree is that most of our ornaments are from our travels or things that we've done as a family. Every vacation we get a new ornament and when we go to shows in the city we will get an ornament. Things like that. So our tree is filled with memories of all of the special things we have done as a family. I don't host Christmas ever so no one really sees our decorations except my kids and they don't really care about them.

I could have written this exact thing. But also me: I have another tree in my family room that is "my" tree and has a rustic theme to it which I love so much.

And FTR: my kids would be devastated if I didn't decorate for Christmas! They love it.

The den tree is white lights with a rustic woddland theme but also includes all of our special ornaments over the years.

The living room tree is a live Frasier Fir, also white lights, with a "Grinchy/Whoville" theme. Everything is red, green and white with a whimsical, sparkly flair.

The dining room tree is a pencil tree with white lights and just Christmas balls in colors to match the decor in there.

I have a set of flocked Xmas trees with white lights in the foyer. They are small and thin, I believe 2ft, 3ft, 4ft, and 5ft.

I love Christmas trees, wherever there is space I put one up. Chat Icon

I have no freaking clue how you do it! I always think maybe I’ll get a second tree in my office or bedroom, but then I usually change my mind after the first tree. I was done when I started the tree. I just ran out of patience this year.

Thanks everyone! Tree is still standing and no broken ornaments, yet.

I'm exhausted! LOLOL

Looking forward to my parents arriving today, they will be staying throughout the holidays and then we have some other out of state family visiting as well. It'll be nice having a house full of people so everyone can enjoy the trees and festivities. But even if nobody was coming, it's all about making Christmas as magical as I can for my kids so the exhaustion is worth it. Chat Icon

ETA - I love your tree topper!!! Where did you get it?

As sad as it sounds and it does burst our bubble, the kids don't even care. I have heard from my own and other people IRL and online that their kids have said they don't really care about the decorations. I think that is sad as we are trying to make memories and many of these things the kids just push to the side.

Maybe some people's kids are just crappy. ((shrug))

I know for a fact that my kids care. They look forward to our traditions, the decorations, the celebrating and everything that goes along with the holidays.

As I grew up, I too cared about all of the wonderful traditions and memories that my parents gave me and my siblings at this time of year and all throughout my childhood.

I wouldn't do for my kids what I do if I didn't have a wonderful childhood rich with family, tradition and special moments. I'm giving them what I had, that is definitely not a waste.

How did I know your answer would be this? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Are you aware that no matter what the topic is you will find a way to turn it into something completely negative? We can't even discuss Xmas trees without you having to comment that "everyone you know has kids that don't care and it's a waste of time". It's very unfortunate for you that you're always unable to see anything positive or happy and instead must always find some dark, depressing, negative spin to everything. My God, you even found a way to turn a discussion on holiday decorating into something miserable.

Whether you ever admit it to yourself or not your CONSTANT negative responses on here to literally EVERYTHING (even happy things) just reinforce that IRL you must be a very unhappy, insecure, unfulfilled person. Content, happy people don't have a need to ALWAYS say negative things and bring others down to feel better about themselves.

Enjoy your thankless holiday.

Back to this happy thread about holidays, trees and cute cats.

KK and I were having a conversation about trees and she was on the same page as myself.

It is not being negative, just real. You should really try it some time Chat Icon

How about Golden's crappy kids? No response to him?

OMG. Just stop. I wasn’t talking about kids, just about space and fitting the tree and how sometimes decorating can be a hassle.

That being said, I am very happy with my tree and was hoping others would share photos. You know for the Christmas spirit.

I will try and get picture uploaded Chat Icon

Done. Not the biggest or nicest but it is my memories through the years Chat Icon

That’s a nice tree and it doesn’t look like it takes up too much space.

We don't have a theme, but our regular ornaments are red and silver. The majority of our ornaments though are ones we've collected over the years..ornaments for our pets, different destinations, our hobbies, etc.

One of our very first--actually, maybe our first ever--was one I got in an LIW ornament swap many years ago.

One of our cats pulled our whole tree down a couple of weeks ago...thank God nothing broke!

Oh no, you are scaring me!

Yes, I put up the ones I got in an ornament swap from LIF one year. I didn’t put any other special ones up, though.

We'd love to put our tree in the dining room, but we keep it in the living room so that cats can't get to it when we aren't home (our living room has a door on it) lol. The same cat pulled the whole tree down two years ago. He's suspiciously sitting under the tree now Chat Icon

Thank you. Yeah it is not like our old tree that was HUGE and took up so much more room but the rest of the room is not very large.

Funny note on how kids don't care or don't notice anything....my daughter is upset because the tree in not in the front window anymore because of the couch being there. She was upset that you can't see it from the street to which I pointed out that our old tree is in the sunroom and you can totally see it from the street. She was like...Oh...Not a funny story - just andotical on the kids not caring or noticing sometimes.

I would love to know too as well as a poster here even commented about his kids not into it all and they decided not to put up their tree.
