your nursery furniture
Did you buy it or was it a gift?
My other 2 daughters never had their own room (with our 1st we were in an apt in the basement of my parents and we were still there with our 2nd) we moved to our house when my 2nd child was 15 months old and they share a bedroom. We are a week away from their bedrooms upstairs being ready
so their bedroom now that is on the main floor will be the babies nursery. so I would like to get furniture like a matching crib and dresser I dont know if we can afford all this stuff though I am hoping my parents get the crib or the dresser but they dont have the money either

Re: your nursery furniture
My parents said they are buying the nursery furniture and my mom said she even plans to buy the bedding (I think she is crazy, but I just say thank you)
Maybe you should look at economical options and maybe your parents will split it with you.

Re: your nursery furniture
Yes...our furniture was a gift. My parents and DH's parents split the cost of it. We are very grateful.

Re: your nursery furniture
We bought all the furniture (crib, changer, dresser, glider and ottoman) ourselves. Neither of our parents really have the money and they are throwing the shower.

My Parents and ILs offered to buy our set, but when we found out how much it was, we decided to go three ways with them. DH and I felt better about choosing the set we liked, once we offered to go 3 ways.

Our situation was similar. In laws offered to buy the furniture but what we wanted was more than what they wanted to spend. We got what we wanted and they gave up money toward it.

Re: your nursery furniture
We are lucky, my parents purchased the crib, changing table/dresser and a tall 5 draw dresser from Behrs. My mom is also buying me the glider and ottoman. I didnt want them to do it but they insisted. cost was 2300 for the crib, changing table/dresser and tall 5 piece dresser, mom also got the extenders for the converter to a bed and the mattress.

Re: your nursery furniture
The set we wound up getting was fairly expensive, $2700 for the crib, dresser and armoire. So my in-laws put $1000 towards it and DH and I will pay the rest.
ETS- my shower is this weekend so we're waiting to see if we get any cash gifts, because we will put that towards the furniture as well.

Re: your nursery furniture
Considering we are having two we are buying two cribs but just using other furniture we have for the rest of the nursery.
I'd rather save the money and buy good quality furniture when they outgrow the nursery. A set each that they will have until they leave for college.
I'm sure we will need the $$$$$ for a double set of a lot of items.

Re: your nursery furniture
We bought the crib but it was a hand-me-down from a friend who we purchased for $100 even though it was an older VERY expensive Bellini crib. We also purchased the changing table for about $70 on clearance from BRU -- it was supposed to be more but they made a mistake and gave us an extra BIG discount. We had the bookshelf that was in the room already and just repurposed it there -- and my mom and dad bought us the glider from BBB.
