YMCA swimming lessons

I was wondering if anyone had any feedback about swimming lessons at the YMCA. I'm looking into lessons for my 4 1/2 year old at the Holtsville location. Any and all feedback would be great! Thanks!

Re: YMCA swimming lessons

I think they're great. My son has been going for about a year now, and the growth that I have seen in him from last summer to this summer is amazing. Money well spent, IMO. The classes are small, and what I like is that the instructor is not holding the kids in the pool, they have these floaties that they wear around their waist.

YMCA swimming lessons

I signed DS up for a swim class at the Huntington YMCA for the fall. I checked out both the Y and Saf-t-Swim and I liked the Y much better.

Does anyone have prices for the Bayshore YMCA? We started my son at safety swim last year and the teacher put him under water without warning him. Needless to say we had to stop the lessons b/c he was terrified. He now swims with a puddle jumper but he needs to learn to swim on his own. He is four. Would love to get him into lessons over the Fall/Winter.

I agree. It is so clost to the one in Holtsville and much, much better for families. They have babysitting services as well as a family dressing room (so dad can take daughter and mom can take son).

I'm on my third swimming lessions with both my girls and they are doing great. My oldest DD (4 years) went from screaming the entire lesson and not letting go of the instructor to being able to swim the length of the pool (with bubbles) by herself in about 10 weeks. She loves it so much.

I take a mommy and me lesson with my 2 year old and she screams "pool" the minute we pull in.

You can't beat the price either.
