Yet another lovenox question..
Sorry, I feel like I have so many questions. After 4 cycles I'm a pro at all the other injections, but I'm new to lovenox.
I've read so much about bruising. I've done 3 injections so far and have not bruised at all.
I don't ice, I pinch skin and keep it pinched until shot is out, I go VERY slow and I do it toward the side in the love handle area.
Am I doing it right? I'm concerned that I could be doing it wrong.
Thanks again!! You girls are the best!!

Re: Yet another lovenox question..
I think the bruising depends on a lot of factors. I have also done 3 shots so far this cycle and only one left the tiniest bruise around the injection site. I think it just depends exactly how you inject yourself each time. Last time, I skipped the icing before and after and had some bruising, but nothing that bad. This time so far I seem to have less bruising. Usually, the bruise appeared the next day for me. The main reason you get the bruising is because lovenox is thinning your blood.

Yet another lovenox question..
I didnt bruise for my first week or 2 of shots. My bruising is completely random.
ETA: as long as youre injecting it in the right location youre doing it right.

I don't bruise either. Sometimes I will get some larger than normal dots but that's about it.

Re: Yet another lovenox question..
Totally random bruising! I never iced either. For me, the huge bruises have actually lessened. Maybe it's because I'm now using the generic brand of Lovenox or because I'm in the 3rd Tri. Who knows? I'll take it.

Question.....is everyone on lovenox or are you on the generic enoxoparin ( spelling?)

Re: Yet another lovenox question..
if you look at the needle, you will see that one side is sharper than the other, comes to an angle. I would always inject with that side first (on an angle) and I never once bruised

Yet another lovenox question..
Thank you everyone!! I think I'm doing it in the right spot....the love handles....got that from the lovenox website. I'm very happy I haven't bruised yet, but understand that it is probably bound to happen at some point. I am also on the generic, leave the air bubble in it and insert point of needle first. I appreciate all your responses.

I was told to push the extra air out.
My nurse said to leave the air bubble in and hold the needle so the air goes in last. I also double checked and the lovenox website says to leave it as well.

Yet another lovenox question..
I was on Lovenox for about 16 months total, and I am starting it again in a few days. I found sometimes it bruised terribly, sometimes it didn't. If I iced, it was worse. But I know so many girls say the ice helps. I think you may just have to find out what works for you. One thing I did that I think was helpful- I did it RIGHT before bed. I did it while I was in bed, put it in the sharps container next to my bed, and went right to sleep. I noticed the bruising wasn't as bad when I did that.... I think because then my clothes weren't rubbing against it, etc. I also noticed the bruising was worse when I was cold, not as bad during the warmer months. It is worse when I go in the pool.
For the air bubble, I didn't get rid of it. I was told to only get rid of the air bubble for ones you fill yourself.
Personally, I think the generic is more painful than the non-generic. But I save a lot of $ with the generic! lol
