yet another clomid question...

I'm on CD 25 or so and my 2nd round of clomid. The dr. said I didn't ovulate yet... shouldn't I have by now? Now I have to go to get more bloodwork done on Monday morning. Just curious when you took it around what day you ovulated... TIA!

Re: yet another clomid question...

I would ovulate between CD 20 and 23...and that's kind of late.
It depends on how much Clomid you are taking...they may have to bump you up to a stronger dosage.Chat Icon

Yeah they just bumped me up from 50mg to 100mg on Friday and I finished it on Tuesday so I went for my sonogram today and bloodwork and now i'll have to go for more bloodwork on Monday.

Re: yet another clomid question...

yeah, I was confused about that as well. I thought I would've had to have gotten my period and started again but my dr. said no and started me on the double dose on Friday, like 3 or 3 1/2 weeks if even after starting my 1st dose.
When I questioned it this morning to the other dr. today told me that they only want you to have a period in between if your lining is too thick and mine was ok.
I'm only taking the clomid b/c I have PCOS- I'm not doing it for IVF or IUI or anything like that. But I really think i should've ovulated by now... they said I haven't yet though.

Yes, I have to keep driving back and forth to and fro the dr every 3-4 days. I got a sono today along with bloodwork and i just had an answering machine message that i have to go back on monday morning for more bloodwork. they keep alternating between looking at my ovaries for follicle # and size and then bloodwork to check my estridiol levels.

Re: yet another clomid question...

Honestly...I've never heard of that before.
When I was on Clomid, I didn't ovulate on 50 or 100 mg., but I would go back to the Dr. (an OB-GYN) after 30 days of charting, he looked at the charts and gave me provera and bumped me up a dose until I ovulated.
I can understand that maybe your lining hasn't thickened up enough, but unless they are doing sonograms to see exactly what is going on in your ovaries how do they give you more Clomid after three weeks?
Now what, they just give you 150 mg. of Clomid to see if you ovulate?Chat Icon Chat Icon

BTW, I took Clomid for natural conception and two IUI cycles...after that I switched to injectables. And I also have PCOS.

They have been doing sonograms CONSTANTLY!!! It's driving me nuts b/c I have to drive an hour each way and it's always at like 7:30 in the morning and i have to get bloodwork before that which they get back the results the same afternoon from the lab- which is how they base when I'm supposed to come next.
I will do whatever if I have to if it means getting pg but it's def. lots of driving. Chat Icon
One of the drs is much older than the other one and supposedly this is how they both treat so I just assumed it was normal... I'll just have to wait it out and see what happens. They told me 66-75% of people w/ PCOS get pg within the first 3 cycles...

Re: yet another clomid question...

Well, it's good they are doing sono's and if you feel comfortable with them, that is great.
But you may want to question what the next step is going to be if you don't ovulate soon.

Unfortunately due to my husband's religious beliefs, I think this is the extent of how far we can go. He won't participate in IVF or IUI or SA even. So I'm hoping that this takes, but we'll see..... I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Re: yet another clomid question...

I also did back to back Clomid cycles...started on 100mg, no response, so I immediately started 150mg (no AF in between). I thought it was weird also but I researched it and lots of Drs. do it.

It seems like you are not responding to it at this dose. If you don't have any mature follies then you won't ovulate at all. I don't think they'd bump you up again before starting a new cycle. Maybe next month try 150 and if that doesn't work, how does your DH feel about injectibles with timed BDing? It would still be something that only you would be taking - you wouldn't have to do IUI.

Do you have PCOS? If so are you on Met? You may want to try acupuncture as I have heard amazing things about it

Re: yet another clomid question...

I'm also confused about the Clomid twice in the same month.

I'm on a Metformin/Clomid combo (100mgs of clomid CD5-9) This is my thrid month with the Clomid, I'm on CD22 and still have not ovulated. I'm actually beginning to wonder if having the HSG this month is the reason. I'm off to do some reasearch on HSG and delayed ovulation. I'm not with an RE yet, so I'm not monitored by sonograms to watch folicle growth. I'm just temping and doing OPKs.

My first attempt at Clomid (without Metformin), I did not ovulate on. I also have PCOS.

Could just be a late O month. I wouldn't call the doctor until like CD25. In the meantime keep BDing!
Also I don't think the HSG would have any effect on your O date.
