YAY CVS!
CVS announced that starting in October they will no longer sell cigarettes or any tobacco products! They said selling those products is inconsistent with selling medicines and health products. Good for them!

I honestly never even knew they sold cigarettes in CVS.
I have never seen them there.

I'm sure they'll make it up with people who switch to CVS after an announcement of this kind. Maybe I'm jaded but I can't see a company giving up that kind of $$$

I wonder if it has to do with the Empire prescription program. CVS caremark is administering Empires prescription plan so maybe that was the reason. It certainly wouldn't make sense for an insurance company to have an affiliation with a company that sells tobacco products. Just a guess.

That's what I was thinking too. Either way, I hope they start a trend that is followed by other stores

I love this news! I'm a loyal CVS customer. IMO, THIS is the way changes are made...not the government regulating everything to kingdom come. I hope CVS gains tons of business from this decision!!

If other drugstores did this, I'm not even sure where in my neighborhood people would buy cigarettes? Gas station? Most people in my neighborhood got to Rite Aid for cigarettes.
