my son had terrible reflux so we were adding rice cereal from the beginning! it's not necessary but neither is chocolate and we all love chocolate!!!

We waited until just about 6 months for cereal. We started pears around 5 months due to serious constipation issues. Honestly your ped. is right. They don't need solids before 6 months and I know a lot of parents who wait past 6 months. There are signs to look for to show your baby is ready for solids. Also their poops start to stink to high heaven so don't rush it

My ped is the same way and I tried at 3.5 months then 4 months and he wasnt ready at all then I tried again at 4.5 months and he liked it. I only give him cereal once a day and he will be 6 months in 2 weeks.

My first ped said 6 months and they we switched and the new one said 3 months.
All these peds should get together and decide on the same thing to tell everyone.
It is sooo annoying
I am so happy I started early. It keeps him satisfied longer. He used to be hungry all the time and I couldn't keep up.

I started Hayley at 4 months..she was definetly ready. If it was so important for them to start at 6 months, every Dr would say it...its just the Drs opinion.

we started at 4.5 months as per my ped's suggestion and now she is 6.5 months and eating everything and I find that she's satisfied more and I love feeding her...but go with your gut, nutritionally she can wait.

We didnt give DD anything until 6.5 mths. She was EBF until then, She is still EBF but also has oatmeal and fruit / veggie in the morning and rice w fruit or veggie in the evening.
IMO they dont need it - well maybe some bigger babies do as they might be hungrier but my DD is still not too interested and she is 7 1/2 mths now.

I started my girls at 4 months on cereal and it made such a difference. My girls were in the NICU for 2 months and the doc and nurses gave one of my daughters Rice in the bottle at 1 month because of reflux.

I think it is fine. I didn't start until 5 months. My doctor told me it was fine and anytime between 4-6 months was fine.

DD is 6 months and exclusively breast fed. We have no plans of starting solids anytime soon and Pediatrician said there was no rush.

my Mom kept telling me Ryan was hungry and I should start him on cereal. We all had it at 2 weeks. I was going to start Ryan at abt. 2 1/2 months but then he got Bronchitis and I figured he wouldn't enjoy it anyway so we started at 3 1/2 months. He was starving and the formula just wasn't cutting it anymore. I was glad we started it. This baby I am going to just see how I feel and if he or she seems hungry I will start it early.

We started at 3.5 months. He was hungry all the time. I was BFing and formula feeding. He just wasn't satisfied. As soon as we started cereal, he was satisfied at every feeding.
