XPost: Newborn Photo Shoot Question Help
This is an Xpost
I have been contacting some vendors to find out their pricing and if they are willing to travel to us in Brooklyn.
Many of these vendors are nice about it, but are not willing to travel outside of Long Island at all.
I contacted a few that I like who are already located within NYC, but some of their prices are ridiculous! I like Emily Burke, who works in NYC and her session fee is reasonable, $200 but to pay for pics, the cheapest package is $900
I really REALLY love Anne Hack. I want her to do my pics so bad but DH only agreed to do the newborn shoot if it happened in our home. I don't blame him, i don't want to take a newborn out in the middle of winter to take some pics - i can't justify it.
Anne seems like she is willing to work with me..so we'll see.
My question, does she also charge seperately for pictures? or does her session fee include pics as well? I don't actually need harcopy pics, a CD would be fine.
Thanks!

Re: XPost: Newborn Photo Shoot Question Help
You should ask her directly what her package entails. She may have changed her packaging & pricing.
Some photographers later stop offering cds after they have a larger following & start charging for photos. They like to control the quality of the prints & ensure someone won't change their editing, print photos at some crappy lab - plus they do make money off photos. They may offer a low-resolution or one that is specifically sharpened for the web (wit's mainly for sharing photos online but if you print them, they print crappy).

since Anne has not yet said she will actually travel to me yet, she has not yet given me her picture prices yet. But I plan to ask her once I hear back from her. I was just asking in case someone had used her before and already knew what her pricepoint was.

Re: XPost: Newborn Photo Shoot Question Help
We used Michelle Hayes Photographer for our daughter's newborn shoot after a friend rec'd her to us. She cost $250 and gave us all the rights to the digital images. That was in 2010.
She was FAN-TAS-TIC!!
We loved the photos, she was so lovely and is so very talented. Check out her website, kids/child photos are under her potrait section.
I still check her site out from time to time to look at her work!
