WWYD:Twins First Bday or Cousin Wedding?
My DH's cousin is having their wedding the same day as our twins first birthday, even though we may not have their party on that day, I'm not really feeling the wedding. Besides, as of right now we dont have a babysitter. Is it awful if I dont go to the wedding??? BTW they are getting married in Mexico in MAy and will not be attending- its a destationation wedding, but having a NY party in June that we have been invited to.
What do you think? Should I stay at home with my kids (I really wanna do this) or try and find a babysitter and go? or send my husband solo?

I'm kinda confused...at first you are asking is it awful that you don't go, then you say that you are not attending...

are we going to the same wedding?! lol.. they are getting married in mexico too 
anyways.. if i am not that close to them i would stay home and be with my kids on their 1st birthday.
i am so sentimental when it comes to that stuff.. so i would stay home.

Ditto I wouldnt even go to my own cousin's wedding 'party' if it fell on my daughter's 1st bday haha
I'd stay home if i were you. Think of it this way.. you spent that very first night of their lives alone with them in the hospital. It will be nice to remember that day with being alone with them now and knowing so much has changed.

I would celebrate with my kids during the day and go to the party in the evening. If the party is in the day, I would go and then celebrate with my kids after that.
It all depends on how close you are with your cousin.

Depends on how close your DH is to his cousin. We had a wedding on my DS' 1st bday and we didn't go. I can't imagine not spending my DS' birthday with him. Can you take the kids, are they welcome? If not, I probably wouldn't go unless it's close enough that you could still spend the majority of the day with your DC but still go to the party (like if it's at night).

I agree - but you're talking to a 12/22 BDay - I almost NEVER celebrated my BDay ON my actual BDAY

This....or, even if the wedding is still during the day I would go. Yes it's their 1st bday that day, but they don't know that. You can celebrate it with them any day really. Guess I'm a bad mom but when they're this young, to me it's no big deal.

I'd try to do both if I could, even if it just meant making a short appearance at the wedding party. If you aren't close at all, or it is far away or there is no way to do both, then I'd spend it with the kids.

I think this really depends on how close you/DH are with them. If his entire family is going and DH is close with them - I think the right thing to do would be for him to at least go. Were they at your wedding?

Weddings are fun and its nice to have a night/time out with just dh. I'd go, celebrate bday earlier/later than wedding. Skip the cocktail hour if you have to but i'd go.
