WWYD First Bday
DS first bday will be on a Saturday this year. At first I was thinking, awesome. We can actually have the party ON his bday. But, now, after thinking about it, I think I would rather have a small family thing ON his actual bday, and then have the big party the weekend after. WWYD? I just don't want to not be able to enjoy the day b/c of planning and setting up the party. I want to be able to enjoy his first bday of my first child... ya know? Or, is it really not that big of a deal... and jsut do it that day?

DD's 1st bday will be on a saturday next year. I am definitely having her party that day. I had a big christening, so I'm hoping to only have about 50 people for that. DH & I always do all our prep work before a party in the days before it. I know my mom, dh & friends will help, so I'm not too concerned..

I think its perfect on his birthday. I would leave it on Saturday. But whatever you decide will be fine!

DS's birthday is this Sunday. We are having his party on Saturday. I wanted his actual birthday to be a small gathering of family. We will do this for all of his birthdays...

Kaydyn's 1st birthday was on a Sat. We did her party that day. We had it at a restaurant so I really didn't have to worry about much. I did chocolate lollipop favors and did a couple a day for the weeks leading up to the party. Then I made an Elmo cake the night before for her smash cake. It wasn't bad at all having it on the actual day.

I am in the same exact situation as yourself. DS's first birthday is a Saturday as well and I am torn if i should have the party on that date of another day. Part of me wants to enjoy his birthday and have something intimate with the immediate family but part of me wants to have the big party on the actual date. My DH constantly reminds me that he isn't going to remember it either way!
