WWYD....Pharmacy question....

OK so I called the pharmacy the other day to fill my DD vitamins. I went to go get them and when I got home I noticed all the packing was different from the previous one....Maybe no big deal I guess...I looked and compared both bottles to make sure they where the same thing because the name seemed alittle different...Then looking closer I noticed that the vitamins where actually for someone else and they just took a marker and went over the name and RX number but you could clearly see it was someone elses name...
Maybe its not big deal but could it be??

My husband went back to the pharmacy and questioned it and they gave him a new bottle and reimbursed him the money we paid for it......so what do you think??

Re: WWYD....Pharmacy question....

That sounds VERY odd. I would be very uncomfortable with that.

Re: WWYD....Pharmacy question....

Hi I work at CVS Pharmacy.
At CVS, the policy is, after 14 days, if the prescription wasn't picked up, we have to reverse the prescription and return the medication in stock to be dispensed again. Whoever dispensed the medication again just put the sticker on top of the old one. Sometimes its hard to take off the label on the packaging/box this is probably what happened.

Re: WWYD....Pharmacy question....

I wouldn't really care what CVS's "policy" is. It's not my policy to accept medications that were previously filled for someone else. I would have gotten a brand new bottle too.

Re: WWYD....Pharmacy question....

Well not all medications are dispensed in its original bottle. How many medicines have you gotten that is in a vial? You don't know if those pills were dispensed, put back in stock and then dispensed again but was put in another vial with a label with your name on it.

In the OP case, she had gotten the original packaging but then maybe (they) the pharmacy had trouble completely peeling the label off or just complete laziness on their part.
