WWYD? Yet another work related conundrum
I am at another fork in the road with working vs. SAH....
I work in a really tough area, in a really tough role, and it is starting to affect me greatly. There is a lot of pressure, and I see things that honestly make me sick....
When I get home, I hug DC until I can't hug him anymore, and miss him incredibly (as we all do). Sometimes it is just so hard seeing how people live and know that this is the same world, that I just brought DS into...
I was offered a job, in another field for MUCH less $, but I can be with DC all day, and take him with me to work.
I can also SAH for a while, and interview again down the road. I just don't know how I will feel still working FT for such a paycut. Even though the atmosphere is a happier one, I would still be working FT for less $$$. I also don't know if declining the position would leave any doors open for me, should I decide to re-interview when the time is better.
Help if you can

Re: WWYD? Yet another work related conundrum
I'm all about job security & more $ but if your job is sucking the life out of you daily, you need to do something.
I've had jobs like that - the ones I dreaded going to work, others that left me completely emotionally & physically drained at the end of the day.
It's a 1/3 of your day - and the other 1/3 you're probably sleeping.
So WWID? I would find another job & get out of the life sucking one. It may not be the one that is signficantly less pay but it would be another job.

Re: WWYD? Yet another work related conundrum
Even though the 2nd job you were offered is less $$ it seems like a much better situation. Plus, you get to see DS more. Right now the job market isn't doing so well. Especially soon college kids are going to be applying and willing to work for longer hours for less $$.
If the new job is still something that's rewarding at least you are making $$ and you get to see DS.
While making money you can still have your resume updated and always have your eye out.

Re: WWYD? Yet another work related conundrum
Okay so heres a question and you might have answered it on another post but I dont recall.
Can you comfortably stay home financially? Is DH's job "safe" (well as safe as they can be these days)
I agree with teh PP. Dont stay in a job that's sucking hte life out of you. If you are unhappy it will translate to all aspects of your life and its NOT worth it.
I can't say do the SAH thing because I dont know your situation.
I wouldnt do the SAH thing unless I could pay all my bills, including food, clothing, etc and put some money aside each month, on DH's salary alone. I wouldnt want to dip into savings each month for basic stuff.
Taking a pay cut to me is worth it, if it allows you to live comfortable.

We can live comfortably, just not the way we have been with my salary. Maybe my shopaholic tendencies may need to be curbed just a tad, but other than that..we would be fine...Thank you for responding..much appreciated...
