WWYD: Vendor Issue

I'm livid over this glass vendor I'm using to install glass inserts into my new cabinet doors...

I dropped it off last Saturday and was told it would be ready for pickup Monday. When I called, the lady tells me, Tuesday. Then I said I may be able to get my contractor to install the glass himself and will call back if that's the case.

Well, on Wednesday, my contractor called to pickup the glass and she tells me it's not ready and won't be until late next week 'cus I told her not to install the glass.

Then she got nasty and refused to work with me on time. What I want to know is, why it takes more than a week to silicone a glass insert into a cabinet??? And what recourse do I have now that she has my cabinet doors?

As annoying as this is, I would call her back and be as sweet as possible. I would apologize and take all of the blame yourself (you might not feel like it was your fault and a vendor should not treat a customer like that).

I would say, Hi XXX, I am so sorry we got of on the wrong foot a few minutes ago and I am so sorry for the misunderstanding between us I was having such a bad day and I think I may have inadvertently offended you. I really did not mean to do that. Pause a second - if she wants to be nice she will say something, but if not, then say, I just wanted to clarify when can my contractor come to your place of business to pick up my cabinets? See what she says. She may say that you can't have them until next week. I will say one week does not seem unreasonable but then again I don't deal with this on a daily basis.

After you get what you want - your cabinets - I would tell your friends never to use them but that is after you have your stuff back.

Thanks, I told my DH to call her 'cus I don't think I can handle talking to this nasty lady again. He was able to get her to do the siliconing tonite so we can pickup Sat. instead.

I'll be sure to write up a nice little anonymous review about my experience in a month or so after this has died down.
