Major sleep issue, WWYD?

Here are the basics:

- My son is 15.5 months old
- We have done CIO with him several times already before, successfully. The first time we did it was about 5 months old.

Lately, DS has been refusing to go in the crib at night. He wants to fall asleep on me. If he does, and he feels me putting him in the crib, he screams bloody murder. I have been leaving him to cry for almost 2 weeks now, but just recently I have started going in there again to pick him up bc CIO is just NOT WORKING this time. He cries longer and harder every night.

The problem is, he is now waking up 3-5 times per night again. He wants a sip of water and to be held. This happens regardless of if we do CIO, or after we started going in.

I am just baffled bc i know this is NOT teething. He has definitely entered the obsessed-with-mommy phase recently, and also just started really walking well.

Do you think this is just a phase? How should we ride it out? Should we go to him at night and cuddle him? CIO is just not working at all this time, and like I said we are experienced with it. I don't want to develop 'bad habits' but both my husband and I work full time and I need to be functioning well. I'm baffled as to how to handle this.

I don't CIO but I have known others who did who swore the kid would never come into the bed and went through something similar to what you are having with C and they took their DC in the bed for a few weeks. It didn't ruin him. He is 3.5 years old and sleeps in his own bed perfectly.

C may just really be missing you these days.

Just a question: Has the nanny said he has been napping differently or being a little more clingy during the day?

Well he is def transitioning from two naps to one. But I need to get more specific info from her, I think. I think this is just 'i want my mommy/daddy' though. I guess we just have to ride out this phase for a while and keep going in to him?
