WWYD sleep help- DC sharing a room

OK here's the deal:

DS (3 1/2) and DD (6 months) share a room.

DD had been sstn from 9-6 for a while.

Last 2 or so months she screams for a bottle at 3-4 am. Drinks it and goes back to sleep until 7-8.

She also wakes up a few times and talks herself back to sleep. Sometimes this wakes DS and he comes to my room. I have to bring him back to his room.

I'm exhausted. I want desperately for her to stop the 3-4 am bottle. I feel like by giving it to her I am supporting this bad habit. The other side of me feels like she needs it because she sucks the bottle down.

I tried rice milk it bedtime bottle. Didn't change anything. I feel like CIO isn't an option because they share a room. I'm at a loss and just wondering WWYD?

Re: WWYD sleep help- DC sharing a room

I feel like I am going to have this problem when baby # 3 comes because depending on what it is it will share a room with one of them. but even now, my ds is 7 months old. about a month ago, around the same age, he was waking up in the middle of the night too looking for another bottle. I asked my ped about it and she said his weight is great there is no reason why he should need another bottle at night and that I should let him CIO. I did that with dd so I didnt have a problem with it but their rooms are so close so I was always afraid he would wake her up too. my ped said try it on the weekend and yea the other might wake up but stick to the CIO for the baby to work them into it. Obviously your situation is diff because they are in the same room but you might have to let both of them CIO. I dont know I am sure I will have the same issue next year. good luck tho.

Re: WWYD sleep help- DC sharing a room

my girls are 18 months and 5 months and DD# 2 is just starting to randomly sleep through the night so she is still in our room DD#1 is a VERY light sleeper so I dont know if they will be able to share a room for a while it is driving me nuts!! If I were you I would leave her in the room with your DS and keep up the 3am feeding she will eventually drop it I know it is exhausting but think of it as temporary and it will get better!! Good luckChat Icon
