WWYD regarding my dishwasher?

My dishwasher's drain motor needs to be replaced and the repair guy said parts and labor would be $250.00.

DH and I are on the fence about fixing it because dishwashers are not that expensive and we would only shell out another 200-300 on top of the 250 to get a new one.

My other dilema is if we do decide to replace the dishwasher do we go wtih the same color...which is bisque or go with stainless steel. Our fridge and oven are both bisque and we do not have the money to replace them and I don't see us replacing them with stainless steel in the near future.

Dishwashers are fairly cheap so I would just buy another one. If you don't think you're going to replace the other appliances in the foreseeable future than go with the bisque. Chat Icon

I have a question for you

if your fridge or stove were to break, and you decided to replace them, would you replace them with SS? if so, I would replace the dishwasher with SS

But either way I would just replace it

did you get a second estimate on the repairs? If not I would suggest that first.

Replace the one with a Bisque. Personally I like all the appliances to match.

I have read that a general rule for appliances is if it's 7+ years replace.

To answer your question, yes. I would replace the fridge and stove with stainless steel.

I have not gotten a second opinion because I didn't want to spend the extra money to have someone to come. These appliance people do not give free estimates..lol.

I think I will call some other appliance places and tell them what needs to be done and see if they can give me a price over the phone.

I would fix it. It matches your other appliances. I don't like when appliances don't match. Think of it this way- if you spend 250 to fix it, you are saving 200-300 to buy new appliances when you are ready. I would wait and spend the money when I was replacing all the appliances.

I would replace... if you want to eventually replace the others, just go ahead and do the dishwasher now. Perhaps start putting a little money aside to save up to replace the others..

If you are planning to sell anytime soon- I would probably just have all the appliances match. It just looks nicer IMO.

I would call other places too and see. I didn't know that they don't give you free estimates, that stinks! But i guess it takes labor to figure it out.

if its over $200 I would just replace it with SS then and as each appliance breaks replace with SS.
