WWYD Moving and school related....

We want to move soon. DD will be starting Kindergarten next Sept (2011). Unless we put the house on the market this summer, the chances of selling, buying and actually moving before she starts will be tight. Problem is we probably won't have enough cash saved up to move until Dec 2011. We would be moving to a different school district.

So my question is how important is it to move before she starts kindergarten? If we had to borrow the money we could. Our current K program is only 2 1/2 hours a day, but she would have to go to an after school program 3 days a week because I work part time. My DD suffers from anxiety and I'd hate to have her go to K, have to meet all new kids only to move mid year or sometime before 1st grade and have to start over again.

I'd go with whatever plan works best in terms of the actual MOVE itself. In this market, you never know how long your house will take to sell. It could be super fast, or you could sit on the market for awhile.

Once she starts K, even if you do move in the middle of the school year, you could always try to plan her return to her NEW school around a school holiday so that ALL the kids are coming from a "break".

I know you will make the right decision.

Def see how she does in Pre-K. I think in the grand scheme of things she won't remember that she changed schools in kindergarten.

I would do what makes you comfortable financially. Yes, K is important, but at the same time, she is 5 and will adjust accordingly
