WWYD: DD's 1st BDay

We agreed not to have a big blow out bash (like we did for DS' 1st).

Her baptism was just in May, and it'd be the same people at her BDay. I felt her baptism was just everyone hanging out - the kids played in the basement b/c it was raining out. I was hoping to not have that same situation, but not sure what else to do. We have the room for this many people inside, but not in one common area - there were some in the kitchen, some in the den, some in the dining room and some in the living room. I was exhausted making the rounds to talk to everyone.

There will most likely be:
1 - 6 month old
2 - 1 year olds
1 - 3 year old
1 - 4 year old
3 - 6 year olds
1 - 11 year old
1 - 12 year old

Any ideas/suggestions????

We're looking at approximately
19 adults
10 kids (ages 1, 3, 4, 6, 11, & 12)

I considered having it at a party place, but not sure I want that b/c I have SO many crafty ideas I want to do (thanks to Pinterest), but at the same time, I want to "sit & relax" a little. And I also considered just going to dinner with immediate family (that'd be 9 adults & 6 kids) at a restaurant, but the same issue with lack of crafty things I can do.

What about a VFW hall or a firehouse? That would give you a common space and the tables to do the crafts, and you could always do some kind of catering so you can relax and enjoy the party.

We have previously looked into the Fire house, but it was $500 just to rent the space. Add food, decorations, etc $$$$$

I'd try to book a restaurant. There are SO many with party rooms that accomodate your amount of guests...

What areas?

We are in Riverhead, but we're the only ones out here. We're open to Suffolk & Nassau
