WWYD??

I feel like my Luteal Phase is very short, I say this because I dont ovulate until CD21 or 22 of a 28-30 day cycle. I've mentioned this numerous times but my dr does not seem concerned and said he wouldnt put me on progesterone. I have gone to him for 8 years...so he knows me and my history. However, when I mentioned it to the other dr in the practice who isnt my regular dr, he said that it was a problem. I mentioned this to my regular dr and he still said no.
I am wondering though if this could have been why I miscarried. I am thinking about going to a fertility specialist and see what he/she has to say. Do you think they will look at me like I am crazy since I got pregnant quickly and have only had one miscarriage and have a healthy 20 month old? At this point would you go see someone? I just want to do everything I can to try to prevent this from happening again if possible.

Re: WWYD??

I went to a specialist after having only one miscarriage and conceiving my daughter very easily. As we age, our hormones and bodies may change drastically, which can have an impact on fertility - I don't think a specialist will think you are crazy at all.

Re: WWYD??

I would go to an RE, even if it's only for a consultation and to some initial blood work to see if you are correct in your feelings.

Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: WWYD??

a short LP can DEFINITELY affect your fertility and honestly, I would go to a different doctor

I o on CD17 and have a 25-26 day cycle so I had a 7-8 day LP

I went to my OB< she prescribed me clomid and I got pregnant the first month

I would go for a 2nd opinion

Good luck Chat Icon

I would definitely go to a RE and bring your ovulation charts with you. I assume you have been using OPK or temping to confirm ovulation. A short LP is usually due to low progesterone levels. Best of luck!

Re: WWYD??

Now what if the specialist says I need to be on something... do I then go back to my regular doctor? How does all of that work?

Re: WWYD??

No, if you see the RE and he/she recommends a course of action, depending on if there is something to be done, then you see the RE. As a courtesy, if you feel the need, you can tell your ob/gyn. I didn't until I went back for my regular annual gyn visit.

I started telling my GYN I thought I had issues with some sort of IF and I was told "oh don't worry you are pretty young" She told me I should wait a year and then see. I am glad that I didn't take her advice because I went to see an RE pretty early on and discovered that there are some issues with my hormones and have some sort of PCOS. I say trust your instrinct and go see someone. If a specialist advises you of things you need to do I would stay with that doctor JMO

Re: WWYD??

I'm going against the grain here, but I don't necessarily think you need to see an RE.
You do have a short LP, so you may need some progesterone supplementation and you may want to be checked for any issues, but I think a good OB would be able to help you with that.
If you are comfortable going forward with treatment to get PG, then by all means see an RE...but that doesn't seem to be your issue.

You might want to FM dm24angel, she was seeing an excellent OB who found she had a few issues her RE's never picked up on.
