ok.. so we sold our house and are moving this weekend. so, the people buying our house wanted us to do a treatment for carpenter ants. so LAST WEEK i called a couple pest control companies just figuring i would have them come out and give me estimates. well, i made an appointment with company A for july 25th ( today). company B was able to come out the same day i called (last week), and gave me a good price so i had them do the work right then and there. i had every intention of calling company A back and cancelling the appointment, but we're in the MIDDLE of moving ( moving this weekend) so i've been extremely busy packing and unpacking, doing things at the new house to get it ready for the furniture, etc, changing my address on things, etc, etc, etc. and it just slipped my mind to call them. WELL 8:30 this morning, the guy from company A shows up. i apologize profusely and explain that we already had somebody come and do the work last week and that i forgot to call and cancel. he was fine with it and went on his way. WELL, about a half hour later, the phone rings. it showed up weird on caller ID so i didn't answer it. they left a voice mail. it was the owner of company A yelling at me! " i felt that was extremely rude of you! the courtesy of a phone call would have been nice. i hop this isn't how you normally conduct business with people". now, my parents own a small business so i totally get why she was upset, but it wasn't like i did it on purpose! i have so much else on my mind right now! lol it makes me glad i didn't use this company! so... should i call her back or not? what should i say?

If you feel really guilty about it and/or want to clear your name I would call back
I dont think your at fault at all- they were only coming to do an estimate- you hadnt promised them your business yet.
I dont know how the owner sounded on the message but sounds like she was the rude one and I would call her to talk about her customer service skills.

I would not do anything-- yes, you screwed up but the owner's behavior was unacceptable. If anything, she should have called and asked you to pay a cancellation fee-- in a professional manner.
Unfortunately you just have to ride the guilt out on this one.

The owner of the company calls and yells at you leaving a nasty message saying YOU are rude! That's pretty funny. If she ever wanted you to refer her business she just lost it. I wouldn't do anything. I'm sure it's not the 1st time this has happened to her and it won't be the last.

I agree. Unfortunately, things like this happen. It's not uncommon and the owner's response was uncalled for.
