Would you switch Drs? vent
Sorry to vent, but I'm really upset. My Dr wants me to havce a laparoscopy next week (1 blocked, 1 good tube per HSG). The way it coincides w/ my CDs, I will O 2 days after and dont know if we can TTC if I have the procedure. (actually need to BD the day before the procedure)
I've been calling the Dr since tues and he has been in surgery, had emergencies, patients, etc and has not called me back. I need to go for testing so I need to know if will be having this procedure or not. I definitely want to TTC this mo so if having the procedure means we can't, then I'm waiting for the next month if need be.
At this point, would you switch Drs? This Dr is highly recommended by many girls on here and people I know off here. When I told him that I left my last Dr. b/c of being brushed off and not given the time to ask ?s, he said he wasn't like that Dr. Well BS, b/c this is worse now b/c I'm actually TTC and need advice. This should be a happy time in my life and it's not at all b/c I'm neurotic not knowing what the hell I'm doing and not getting answers.

Re: Would you switch Drs? vent
First of all,
Whether or not you should change doctors is a really personal and important decision and I don't know enough to advise you on that. It is important to trust and feel comfortable with your doc because you are going to have a ton of questions along this journey, many very personal and embarrassing.
I'm obviously not a doctor but remember that you're most fertile the day or 2 before you O. So it sounds like the procedure is scheduled to take place on your most fertile day. But it takes the average couple about 8 months to conceive, so maybe to a doctor whether you get going this month or the next is irrelevant. It's up to you to decide how you feel about that attitude from your doctor.
You say that this should be a happy time in your life and that you're upset that it's not. I can tell you that for me ttc has not been happy or exciting past, oh, the first 2 weeks. It is difficult, and scary, and frustrating. No matter who your doctor is, you will feel like things aren't moving fast enough. Again, lots of to you and good luck with whatever you decide.

Re: Would you switch Drs? vent
I am going to agree with Dava on switching Dr's is a personal decision. It is not one for me to say yes or no too. That being said if you don't feel that you are getting the attention/response tht you need/require maybe you can interview a few others to see which you would like to maybe go with.
As for the procedure...I know that you don't want to miss a cycle in TTC but you should also think about the long term. If you don't have the lap done now and you still don't get a BFP then you are still out another month and still have to have the lap. In my eyes I would have the Lap done this month and then start back up again next month.
Two months ago I started to see an RE and was going to start my first Medicated cycle (cause I don't O on my own) when I found out that I had to travel for work for 2 weeks and would not be able to be monitored. Now I have been TTC for 7 months at that point and really wanted to get started. I had decided that the right thing to do was to hold off a month and do what was best for my body. Of course this is just my opinion and my personal experience. Good luck with your decision.

Re: Would you switch Drs? vent
Thanks ladies.
I know it wont always be happy happy joy joy, but we skipped last month and were really looking forward to ttc again this month. I was looking forward to getting the procedure done, but just feel like if we can't ttc anyway, then why not wait until next month to get it done. Next month will probably be out too by the time they get to it.
I'll see if my Dr. has 5 minutes for me today, otherwise I'm really considering leaving his practice. I know I'm not pregnant, but it is a time sensative matter and I need an answer. He is making me frustrated, not really the whole ttc thing. We went into it saying if it happens, it happens and we still have that attitude, but when I need advice and the only one who can give it to me isn't available, it's really frustrating.

Re: Would you switch Drs? vent
So I spoke to the Dr. Finally! and he said it's ok to wait. The procedure wouldn't mess with my O at all, but I'd be bleeding afterwards so that wouldnt make for fun (sorry TMI) So, if I'm not pregnant this month I'll get the procedure done next month and go from there.
