would you stay at a job...

if you were being degraded and talked down to by a boss on an almost
daily basis but the pay is very good? Esp if you are an excellent worker at
takes work very seriously.

Eventually it would probably lead to me leaving.

Re: would you stay at a job...

I was in this exact same situation. I stuck it out, but only because the evil boss quit about 9 months after I started working there. I was absolutely miserable though, and it really impacted me in a bad way, and I was looking. I just got lucky that she left, but I still hated the job after she left because she laid the groundwork for it to suck.

If it is affecting you on a daily basis, I would look elsewhere.

I wish I could leave- but this economy scares the crap outta me... plus my salary is larger than Dh at the present.

BTW- she does this to all the employees not just me- i wish someone would goo to hr on her. Unfortunatlely they know that she would make their life a living h3LL if they did. i for one dont wanna take that chance.

I would leave too. I know the economy stinks and it's really hard to find work esp to start at the salary your at. But it might be time to start looking.

Do you have an ethics board? We have a link on our internal home page that we can anonymously tell hr whats going on. If not send the letter from a random mail box to hr and don't sign your name, just make it a concerned employee. There is no reason nor do they have any right to treat anyone like that.

Hope things get better! Chat Icon

In retrospect I wish I had gone to HR on my boss. Everything came out after she left and we all kind of got a little scolded for not doing anything about it. She was a really big bully and really crossed the line quite a few times, and she was definitely fire-able. If you don't want to go to HR, I at least recommend you documenting every incident, in case anything comes to a head.

Good luck - I know the economy is scary right now. Maybe just start looking casually to see what's out there in your field. It's always less pressure looking for a new job when you have one currently.

no, i would not. that's where i was up until last week...my boss had me laid off. Chat Icon the reason behind it is bull but the point is I was unhappy and looking and willing to take a paycut in order to get out.

i second the documenting -- that's what i was doing. but personally, after having gone to HR and having tried to do it a second time a year later when things weren't better, I don't have much faith in that dept. no offense to the HR peeps on the board. nothing against you personally.

If you don't go to HR, then nothing will change. If you go to HR, she can't retaliate against you. If she tries to retaliate, she's subjecting herself and the company to a possible lawsuit. If you have a good HR department, she will hopefully be put in her place. Sorry you have to go through this. Chat Icon

Re: would you stay at a job...

The best thing to do is document her. If you work for a big company and you have actual documentation they have to take action. If not try transferring but if its not a good work environment its time to go.
