Re: Would You Question....

I say hell no...

But then the next question I ask myself is what if she wanted a nose job- and I don't know if I would have such a problem wiht it.

And the next question I ask myself is what if she was older and woudl pay for it herself. Would I have a problem then?

I knew someone who went from an A cup to a B cup- she paid for it herself. It made her feel better about herself and her body.

Too many questions... I am confusing myself Chat Icon

Re: Would You Question....

no way. Any surgery has risk to it, I would not want her doing it on my watch.

Re: Would You Question....

IMO- What kind of example am I giving my daughter by letting go out & get a boob job since she's not happy w/ the ones she has at the age of 17. I'm sorry....that to me is just sad. Really.

I would say no to any elective cosmetic surgery until my daughter was 18 and supporting herself. If at 18 she had the means to get the surgery, so be it I would have no say in the matter since she would be a legal adult.

I agree with this.
I think I'd agree more with her nose job because even though all surgeries are dangerous...I think the one with the boobs is more invasive and more dangerous since you are putting something foreign inside your body. I think that sooner or later that can affect someone's health. I think I will give her all the documentation in terms of the danger she's putting herself in it, maybe even provide a video so that she can see what the surgery entails......and then let her decide. Once she sees everything that she will put herself through...maybe that will make her change her mind. I think I would also talk to her about self esteem issues.

I don't know Lisa. I feel like our society makes it so easy for everyone to change everything & anything about ourselves. I think especially at 17 when you don't really know what you want for the next 15 years. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Plus at 17 your body is still changing. I saw pictures of my old roomate (a D-cup) from her high school yearbook- she was an A cup. Mother Nature took care of that one on her own.

No way. When she is old enough to not need my consent, and can pay for it herself, she can make the decision for herself.
