Would you put your DC in daycare in the same bldg you worked or near home?

My company just moved offices and there is a Bright Horizons in my office building. Currently 3yo DS attends a preschool 5 minutes from our house. I have a 20-30 min commute.

Would you switch your DS to the daycar in your building or keep him at the preschool near home?

We are very satisfied with the preschool. Preschool offers extended care so it has similar hours to daycare.

If you were just looking and weren't settled I would say definitely in your building as long as you were happy with it after getting a tour. Since you are already happy with where she's at Id keep her there. Offices also can move and things can happen.

When DS was in daycare, it was near work. Now he attends a developmental preschool and it is near work. Honestly, I prefer him being closer to home. Our pediatrician is close to home and the one or two times I needed to pick him up at daycare and take him to the dr, it was a long ride. We've had a lot of bad weather the last few years and driving with him the car was too much for me in that weather, so we mostly stayed home. I'm also not someone who likes to drive and lately I think everyone on the road is nuts, so the more I can keep him out of the car, the happier I am.
But ultimately, it depends on where you are comfortable with having DS. Do you want the additional 40-60 minutes a day with him in the car or do you want alone time? Is he a calm child in the car or is he a wild child?
The only thing that could be a big motivator for me is cost. If one is substantially cheaper, but still quality care, that could be a big motivator for me. But again, depends on your situation.

I'd say that if your dc does not mind the slightly earlier drop off and later pick up, then don't move them if you don't need to.

I have my dd near my work (because we knew we would be moving so I wanted to keep her in a daycare near work so I wouldn't have to switch daycare). While I like that dd is with me for 45 min In The car each way (where we can chat, sing) instead of being in her classroom for a total of an hour and a half longer each day, there are drawbacks. When I'm sick or when I'm off from work, it's a pia to bring her, so when I'm home sick, she's home with me. I do like that I know I can get to her quickly, so there's that perk of her being closer to where I work. But it is taxing on me that 100% of drop off/pick up falls on me. DH works nowhere near me, so he can never help out.

Basically, near home and near work both have pluses and minuses that even out. So in your case, it becomes more about whether you'd want to change daycares and how your child adjusts to change.

Near home. We could put ds near one of our offices but there are days I work from home or are home sick and it's so nice having him close. Also I can make a drs appt for him and pick him up early etc.

I would keep him where he is if you are happy there.

The pickup factor is big.
For me, I can get stuck at work & DH needs to pickup kid from wherever.
It's why we went with a nanny.
To get to the daycare near work would take DH an hour during rush hours (am and pm). My hours were too unpredictable!

I like to have our daycare close to home.
I like that if I am sick, I can still bring her there so I can go home and get some rest or work from home in peace if need be. If I had to drive her to a daycare at work, it wouldn't be worth it in those cases, kwim?

Also if the weather is bad, I can take her right up the road to daycare and go work from home so I dont' have to commute far in treacherous weather.

I prefer having them near home. It's easier for pickups and drop offs. Plus if I am running early sometimes I like to run home and change and then get them.

I would prefer near home, just in case something happens and my DH, or my parents need to pick him up. Or if its bad weather out I wouldn't want to drive him the 45 min it takes me to get to work.

I see what everyone is saying about keeping him near home- but when we were in daycare, I had him by me at work and I went on my lunch hours (when possible). I loved having that ability to see him during the day

Home.

One bc if I need someone else (like my mom) to get DC she can help out.

Two - once the winter hits, I much prefer only having to travel with DC in the car during a storm the mile from daycare than what could turn into a several hour commute home in a storm.

Three - for days when Im not at work for some reason but am still dropping DC off, I dont have to drive half an hour to do it

Four, you may change jobs, or anything could happen but the one daycare near home isnt going anywhere regardless of what happens with your career.

Julian loves where he goes so much I would never change unless I absolutely had to. His facility is near my home. I would keep it the same since it sounds like you are happy with it.
