When our new baby comes, DS will be moving to our downstairs room. Our room and DS2 room will be on the 2nd floor. DH does not want them to share a room. I am contemplating getting a monitor with two cameras so I can keep an eye on him. For what it is worth, for the most part, we are downstairs except when we are sleeping.

If you want to for your own self then just get a cheaper sound one and not video so this way you can hear if he calls you at night.
I still have one for my 4 yr old bc he's so soft spoken if he gets up in the middle of the night. My 2 yr old I hardly listen to bc when he wants me he is loud! LOL

Yes, I would. My son is 4.5 and I still have his on. He yells loud enough for me to hear him without the monitor in case he needs me, but it allows me to see if he's actually asleep or just laying in his bed. If my son was on a different floor, I'd definitely have a monitor in his room.
If you are considering a monitor with two cameras, we have the Motorola one and I love it. I've had 3 different Summer Infant video monitors in the past, and hands down I love the Motorola one better.

AJ is 5. She has a monitor still. I never wanted or had a video monitor. I have the Angle Care one. My cat chewed through the pad's wiring so it has been a sound only monitor since she was about 2.
She knows if she is in her room she has to turn it on. She is not allowed to shut it off. We have it on at nights when she sleeps as well.
Sometimes her allergies get so bad but she's so asleep we hear her sneezing, coughing and sniffling... just suffering, so we go in there and give her meds (while she sleeps). Also we know when she's up early or if she's had a nightmare or something's bothered her its just easier for her to call us from her room without screaming since we are on the opposite side.
I don't know when (or if) we'll drop the monitor. I just love it. Oh and when the neighbor comes over the monitor is on and me and her mother sit in our dining room while the girls play.

Both my kids are upstairs so we have the video monitor with the second camera. Kids are 5 and less than a year.
