Would you prefer practical gift for 3rd child?
My friend is having her first baby boy next month. She has 2 girls. My friends and I are throwing her a little sprinkle next week. She put together a little registry that is all practical stuff like diapers and wipes.
Would you stick to the practical stuff?
I usually don't like to buy gifts like diapers but I know that is what they need most. She is a SAHM and while they are not struggling, I know they do not have a lot of extra money.

I would definitely stick with what she registered for but I may also get her some boy outfits and maybe a little something else

Since it is the 3rd but a different gender I would do a combo practical gift with some clothes or a personalized item

I would get some boy clothing since her first two were girls and throw in a small pack of diapers.

If you want to make diapers, wipes and practical stuff more fun and personal, maybe you could make a diaper cake? Or I've seen other ideas that are cute too online. You could pretty much make it in to any shape, like a cradle or a cute animal and fill it with little practical things. For my shower someone made a diaper motorcycle and put a stuffed animal on it as the rider. It was cute!

I would give a practical gift that she registered for.

Those are amazing. Unfortunately, I am like the least crafty person ever.
She registered for a lamp. I will probably just get that for her. Don't like the idea of buying disposable items. At least she can look at the lamp and know I bought that for her.

Re: Would you prefer practical gift for 3rd child?
I too had a boy after 2 girls. While I needed, and registered for practical stuff, it was really nice to have boy "fun" stuff for him...receiving blankets, burp cloths, washcloths, clothes, small toys, etc... While I thought I was good with all the gender neutral stuff, when I had my girls and then him, I really did want the pink and blue stuff. It was also 4 years between my 2nd girl and my son, so not a lot of time, but still enough time that lots of things had changed. It was nice to get some fresh, and updated things.
I think the lamp is a good idea. My MIL gave me a lamp for my son's room, and I do think of her and how happy I was to get that lamp every time I look at it.
