Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH

No. I know my parents and my IL's would watch her and have no problem and I would trust them 100% but *I* couldn't handle being away from her for that long... yet. I think 3 days max is all I could do.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH

I don't think I can do a week, but the longest maybe 4 or 5 days.

I WFT so when I have time off I love to spend it with the family. I feel like the week is so nuts and rushed as is. I'd feel guilty working a full week then not seeing DS for a whole week.

I went away over a weekend and then took a couple of days off after to have some mommy and Mason time.

ETA - I would trust my parents and IL's 100% to watch him though

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH

I pesonally could not ever do it for a week. There is NO way, but thats just me...we hardly leave her even to go out to dinner (its not normal)

We have done 1 night 1x when she was 14 months.

Maybe I would do it again , the most is 2.

But then again, I am not normal!!!Chat Icon

ETA: I totally trust my parents completely, my mom watches her 2 days a week while I work, its just the overnight thing that bother me...I hate to be separated from her.

I did it twice and it was fabulous! We went to Europe for 10 days when DD was almost 3. And we went to Jamaica a month ago for 8 days, DD is 4 and DS was almost 8 months.

It was much needed. DH and I don't have any family in this state and we don't get out by ourselves at all. I joke that we save all our date nights and take them all at once in the form of a vacation.

Both times we called home everyday via Skype on wi-fi. I would have a harder time if I couldn't call home.

With this last trip, I was worried that DS wouldn't remember me when we got home. I was home when he got up in the morning and got him from the crib and the smile on his face when he saw me was priceless. He didn't forget. Chat Icon

ETA: Being comfortable with your caregivers is key. I 100% trusted my ILs.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH

Dh and I went away for 5 days w/o DDs. We were thinking of relocating to FL so DH and I went down there to go on a couple of interviews and look at apartments. My ILs offered to watch DDs so we wouldn't have to drag them all over the place. DH and I went to Disneyworld while we were down there and it was so different to be there without kids. We had a really nice time.

If I had the funds, time off and my parents were willing.. Heck yeah..

Sadly I don't even have one of those things! My parents work and it would mean taking him to daycare and I don't know how he would get picked up by 4pm. It would be a big production. Big.

So, it's not in my near future!

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH

DS is 27 months. I've been away for 2 nights twice (once DH was home with DS, once he stayed with SIL). He's slept out overnight a bunch of times as well when we've needed overnight or late babysitting- at least 6 times.

DH and I have been discussing this, but I don't think we could do more than 2 nights away at this point. The thought just makes me too sad (more so, my DH). I wish we could afford to take a babysitter away with us though! It would be nice to get a nice quiet dinner or two out. Chat Icon

ETA: My issue is solely with being sad leaving my DS. I know he'd be in great hands with family.

Nope.

I just believe once you have kids... they are part of your family & that's it. I bring DS everywhere... really everywhere.

But, it's a personal thing.

Yes, 100%!!! Actually, I think I need to start looking into my First Vacation since having my DD. ( I need one!) Chat Icon Hopefully right around the time she is 9/10 months.

I trust our family to watch her and they wouldnt mind at all.

I think some alone time is good to have and with allow us to reconnect since having our family.

Will I miss her...., ABSOLUETLY and it will be hard to leave.

Not yet. We are going away for two nights in a few weeks and I'm already dreading that. It's going to be the first time that I won't see her at all for a whole day. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Me, not yet, because DD is only 13 months. We are planning a trip for next fall, DS will be 4 and DD will be 2.5. I would not want to go before DS/DD was old enough to understand that we were coming home.

In our situation, no. If we had parent's who wanted to watch them, and we could trust them, then yes. Although I would probably do (2) 3 night vacations.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH

We will be going away for 6 days/5 nights and leaving DD with my parents. The only thing I'm worried about is how much I'm going to miss her. She will be almost 19 months when we go
