Ditto, of course depending on the situation.
Years ago, in my life before kids, lol, I was making great money, and I knew I merited that salary, so I was not afraid to speak up.
Now, teaching, no jobs, heck I'll say "yes ma'am" to any job offer

I would give a range too. I know when I have recruited for my company the first interview was typically on the phone and we always asked the salary requirements. We didn't want to bring someone in who was looking for way more than we ere looking to pay and waste both our time and the candidate's time.

Like others have said, I'd give a range. I wouldn't want to be wasting my time or the potential employers if we weren't on or close to the same page.

i'm not a fan of giving ranges -- I did that and got the lowest number in my range in the past. i'd try to get out of the employer first what they're looking to pay. if they don't do that, then give a set figure. but ONLY do this if they bring up money first. JMO.
