would you do ivf if....
this was your situation?
little history.
started seeing dr b 18ish months ago. we did a few medicated timed bd cycles . bfns. then bc dh has coverage we dedided to do an ivf. i only got out 2 follies. both fertilized. i got bfp but ended in chemcial. we tried ivf again and only got 2 again and neither made it to transfer. we decided bc i am a very poor responder just to do iuis.
after 7 iui's i got my bfp and made it to 9 weeks and the hb stopped. i had a d&c and it was determined the baby had tripioly and was not viable either way.
so now i am on a forced break. my if issues are low ovarian reserve/high fsh. i am 35 dh is 38. no mf issues.
i believe i have ivf coverage for another ivf or two if i want. i have unlimited iuis.
i usually make around 2 follies and the most ever i think was 5. no matter what meds or dose i am on.
part of me wants to do ivf again bc they can do icsi to make sure the egg doesnt let in 2 spermies ( thus the tripioly mc i had). and they can see if the embies are good or not.
on the other hand since i am such a sucky responder is it even worth the time etc to do ivf?
i did work first time in a sense but so did iui.
any thoughts? trying to get a game plan in my head since i have the time. ty v much xoxoxo

it is a tough call. i feel that i would probably continue with IUIs. i am sorry about genetic issue with your previous pregnancy, but it is really a fluke. are your IUIs heavily medicated? ( i.e. steroids, lovenox, etc)? overall, it is really a decision you should follow your heart on

I would first want to talk to him about what protocol to use for your next IVF and what he would change. Did he have any thoughts on why you only got 2 eggs? Does he think by changing your protocol they can get more eggs? Did he change it up for the 2nd IVF?
If he doesn't think anything would change, it seems you actually respond better to the iuis. I know you had a miscarriage, but it seems like that is the furthest along you have gotten. I would prob. continue with iuis. I'm sorry. I know it's so tough.
Good Luck!!!

Re: would you do ivf if....
thanks ladies.
the reason i am considering ivf again is... dh might lose his current job this year. if so ... we may not get ivf coverage again.
all cycles were heavily medicated. tons of gonal etc.
the only reason i get for such little amt of follies is poor responder due to fsh and ovarian assesment report.
i will do whatever he thinks...but i think he is willing to do whatever i say since we have the coverage, but i dont want to push for ivf if its not worth it.
ty!

If I was possibly losing IVF coverage in the future, I would do IUIs and also try to use the IVF coverage too before you lose it. You never know...you may look to use it somewhere down the line and you won't have the IVF coverage anymore.

Re: would you do ivf if....
Of course this is a very personal decision, but this is what I would do.
Have a consult with Cornell and CCRM (top clinics in the country), have as many IVFs as I could possibly afford at the best clinic. and pray. a lot.

i would do IVF as many times as you have it covered. regardless of how many follies you make - your chances are guaranteed to be higher with IVF then IUI. so why waste time with lower percentage odds if your odds are already lower to begin with??

Personally, I would have another consult with Dr.B to discuss your options and see where he thinks is best to go from this point!

being a poor responder myself. I would see what other protocals he can do for you. It only takes one but you have to do what is in your heart. Sorry if that doesnt give you any direction but IVF is hard and you have been through alot.
