Would you bring your SLR to Disney?
I just wonder if we all go on a ride if we can carry it with us, I guess my mom will be with us too, so she might skip the ride. When we went to Jamaica last year I brought the little digital cam and wished we had better pics (but my mom wasn't with us then).

I always bring my good camera with me. I have been able to take it on rides. I don't go on the "BIG" rides so I am not sure if they allow them....

I would probably think you are better taking a small point and shoot as 1. I would not want to lug a big camera around with everything else I have to shlep and 2. I would not want to lose it or damage it. But that is me though.

You definitely can if you are willing to lug it around the parks. I personally hate carrying mine around when I already have to carry a diaper bag and so many other items so I don't bring mine to amusement parks just too risky that it could get stolen or broken. But my feeling is if you are willing to carry it and you feel comfortable taking it on rides with you (and you can bring it - but you assume the risk if it breaks - DH brings his video camera) then I say go for it.

Ok, I think I'm going to bring it ONLY b/c DH and my mom will be with us, and DH is very good about carrying stuff, sitting out if he really has to with something. I always bring the point and shoot and I miss the really nice pics....and here's a chance I can to have nice backgrounds, stuff to take pics of etc. I really hope I don't regret this!  I didn't take it to Jamaica b/c we'd be on the beach and at the pool a lot, and there's no extra person. After using the SLR this past year, I wish I had bought one sooner, when we actually had time to travel all the world and see cool things. Now I have pics of the Taj Mahal, Eiffel tower, Hong Kong skyline, etc with a point & shoot and SOOOO wish I had better pics, but I guess its an excuse to go back, right? 
I have a shoulder bag for the camera, but maybe I should look at something a little more sturdier

I just brought mine. Happy that I did. But I lug a lot anyway. DS was 5 months, so we had the stroller. I lugged that thing in the diaper bag when we waited on lines though.
