Would You Be Upset if DH/DW/SO..

gained a lot of weight after getting married? Not that my DH has....but we were out with some friends talking about this tonight and i was wondering how each of you would feel if you DH/DW gained A LOT of weight after getting married (like 50 plus pounds). It was interesting the responses i heard.

For me i would not care unless it was like more then 50 because i would worry about his health more then me being "unattracted" to him.

Some of our friends were saying they would have serious issues with it and i was kind of shocked by that....but they kept saying it would mean more to them that someting was wrong with DH/DW they felt then just the whole not being "attracted" to them. Which i could understand too.

And my sister was with us and she has been married almost 13 years and while she had been about the same weight since she got married her husband has gained a lot and is now trying to lose weight and she was saying how she felt that he "let himself go" and she didn't and that is okay for her but if it was the other way around she felt that he would of divorced her.

Just an interesting topic. Thought i would pose it to you ladies and men....let me know what you think.

i would only be upset if his health started to deteriorate because of it.

DH has gained quite a bit of weight since we got married and I don't care in the least bit.

i wouldnt care one bit - geesh that is so shallow and grief it is just crap - if you love someone it shouldnt matter what they look like - this is way lame

we both gained a lot of weight after the wedding. We are both losing it now. He's ahead of me, but I'm not too far behind.

It did bother me- for a stupid reason. We have a small place, but we never had any trouble moving in the small hallways at the same time. Then, when we got bigger we would constantly bump into each other (and other things as well). It was driving me crazy! So, one day I announced "we are both HUGE. It's time to lose weight!"

and, viola!!!

I WISH he'd puton some weight...he's so tall and thin!!

but alot of weight, I wouldn't care I'd just worry about his health.

I'm having serious insecurities about my weight gain with being PG and keep asking him what if I don't go back to the way I was, and he said he didn't care, he'd still love me and think I'm hot.

It wouldn't phase me in the least.
I too have been diagnosed with something which has explained my sudden and rapid weight gain...DH has been nothing but great and of course I would extend the same courtesy

what happened with sickness and health. u love the person for who they r not what they look like.l if his health was in jeopardy, we both would do something about it.

My DH is actually quite underweight. I wish he would put on about 30 pounds!

I think it depends on how much weight, but for health issues . . . . Would I be UPSET? I would be concerned, not upset.

My weight has been pretty much the same since before we even got engaged..Ive gained, lost, gained, lost...etc..(Been that way forever)!
My dh has put on a little weight and I dont get upset, but do get concerned...Health issues.
I worry about both of us!

If DH put on 50 pounds in a year, yes I would be concerned. That would mean that his habits would have totally changed, and there would have to be a reason for it. (depression, etc.) If he gained 50 pounds over several years, I wouldn't be as concerned since people do tend to gain weight as they get older. Of course it would not mean that I loved him any less.

I gained 30, yes 30 lbs, from the time we got engaged until now. So that's about 10 lbs per year - ridiculous! My DH gained well over 50 lbs since we got engaged and recently lost 70lbs. I loved him no matter what and was still attracted to him. Last week I had a sudden panic attack and was like "Listen, I know I gained a lot over the past few years and I worry that you won't be attracted to me anymore - and I'm working on losing it". He just laughed at me and told me I am beautiful inside and out and will always love me!!

Since I've met him my DH has put on about 40lbs. He was actually very skinny when I met him so the weight gain suits him well!
