Would you be uncomfortable doing this?

I've always been a shy/introvert type of person so this has seemed to be impossible to do, just wondering if it is truly that hard (2 situations).

1. Years ago I was working in retail and someone returned something that was bought using store credit so he got store credit back. he wanted cash, so he stood by the customer line and asked people "I have a store credit, I'll pay for your item and you give me cash"

2. I was going to Comic Con last year and saw 2 girls standing by the entrance of the subway and were asking people coming into the subway - "We don't have tickets to comic con, do you have an extra one?" After asking about 10 people they got free tickets from someone.

I can't imagine myself doing either of the two...so is it that hard to do or fairly routine?

Honestly I think both situations you described are ballsy and in poor taste.
Regardless of whether you are shy or outgoing.

The first one, no, I don't think I'd be comfortable doing that. (and now you could probably just sell the credit online)

The second one - were they asking for free tickets, or to buy if someone had an extra? I'd ask if anyone had a ticket to sell, but I would never ask if anyone had a free ticket to give me

I'm not necessarily an introvert or an extrovert, but people who have no shame like those two examples amaze me.

Comic Con is Thurs-Sunday, they sell daily tickets or 3 or 4 day tickets.
This was on Saturday.

Eventually one person got a Saturday ticket and the other one got a 3 day ticket.

Don't know exactly what they said, but there was no money exchanged.
The guys just gave them their pass and that's it.

Re: Would you be uncomfortable doing this?

I think in general both of these situations are in very poor taste and I would be annoyed as a passerby to see either. And personally, I'm way too introverted to attempt either. I'm just too shy.

I don;t see a problem with either.

The first I don;t think I would personally do it but I don;t have an issue with someone else doing it.

The 2nd I see no different then asking if anyone has tix to a concert outside a venue. That I have done. Yes the girls got the tix for free but who's to say they would not have paid for them.

I'm pretty introverted and would never do either. However, a long time ago I was trying to get home and we were going to use MARTA (Atlanta's subway) and I realized that I only had a $20 bill and my friends had no money. It was super painful for me, but we asked passers-by for money until I had enough for the fare (I think it was $1.25 and I didn't want to break my $20 bc change would have been entirely in tokens and I didn't use MARTA often).

Re: Would you be uncomfortable doing this?

no, i wouldn'be comforotable in ither case.

I wouldn't ask for an extra ticket to something--I couldn't even SELL one I had once.
( the laws were stricter then, though)

I had tickets to see a concert for my birthday w/ my husband (when we ere dating) & brother & my husband had to cancel, so I took the extra ticket with me, but I waited until someone started asking if anyone had any to sell. I was only charging face value, but I was still terrified. Chat Icon
